Seeking a meticulous Construction Inspector to oversee various projects across the County, documenting construction activities and ensuring compliance with codes and ordinances. With a minimum of five years' experience in civil engineering or construction inspection, along with relevant certifications, you'll play a vital role in monitoring site conditions, addressing code violations, and implementing best practices for quality assurance.
Inspects multiple projects throughout the County daily and documents all construction activities for each site.
Coordinates the administration of construction contracts, plans and schedules work, monitors site conditions, writes and monitors change orders, verifies pay estimates, and makes recommendations regarding construction, relocation of existing utilities, code compliance, etc.
Inspects installation of storm drain lines and structures, curb and gutter, base and pavement, signs and striping, detention and retention ponds, monitors quality of workmanship, verifies conformance to applicable codes and ordinances and approved plans.
Notifies responsible inspectors, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, or homeowners of code violations, discusses corrective options, issues violations, makes recommendations for stop work orders, if necessary, re-visits areas with repeat violators, and documents findings and recommended solutions.
Receives and responds to complaints from the public regarding related ordinances; records and monitors status of complaints from citizens; collects information and researches complaints; determines validity of alleged violations and initiates appropriate actions; maintains records of response to complaints.
Reviews and studies development code regulations to stay informed of changes in ordinances; completes necessary classes to maintain required inspection certification; implements new techniques for inspection activity.
Reviews and checks blueprints, plans, and sketches for proposed construction, alteration, or repair; verifies as-built drawings for accuracy of elevations, location of laterals, easements, and property corners.
Performs other inspections, such as ground truthing plans, internal County projects, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field; and
Five (5) years of experience in civil engineering, road construction, or construction inspection; or
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Must possess and maintain valid certifications and training in Level IB and II Soil Erosion Control, Wetland Delineation, and Hazardous Materials/Chemical Spill Response.
Other certifications applicable to the area of assignment may be required.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
