The essential duties for this job include:
Construction Inspector I
Attends pre-construction meetings and answers questions from contractors and other attendees.
Consults with Project Engineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems; reviews equipment utilization data and time and cost estimates.
Monitors project phasing and traffic control plans or airport closure plans and ensures compliance with approved safety standards; inspects barricades; as required moves traffic control devices and barricades.
Drives to observe and inspect ongoing construction work and documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project
Trains and mentors less experienced inspectors on work methods.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Construction Inspector II: In addition to performing the duties of a Construction Inspector I at a more advanced level:
Analyzes procedures to identify deficiencies and recommends improvements to management.
Prepares monthly and final estimates.
Construction Inspector III: In addition to performing the duties of a Construction Inspector I and I at a more advanced level:
Ensures prompt notification and repair of any deterioration or damage that could be hazardous to the traveling public or more costly to repair if neglected.
Informs plant personnel of material or production problems, rejects substandard material and assists in determining cause for material problems.

Applicable testing methods, processes and procedures
The Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups
Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps
Preparing and maintaining records, files and reports
The use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems

If performing Materials or process Inspection, experience required in lab work, material inspection or other engineering related activities.
Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent.
Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on year per year basis.
Licenses and Certifications

Safety Impact Certificate (issued by TxDOT at time of hire)
Valid Driver's License at time of hire

Additional Conditions for this position:
Must attend work regularly and observe approved work hours.
Required to work weekends and holidays.
Required to work hours other than 8 to 5.
Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.
