What You Will Do
As the Construction Inspector I in the Department of Public Works, you will work to ensure compliance with Carroll County construction standards as well as project specifications. Reporting to the Construction Inspection Manager, your role will assist other inspection staff. Through site inspections, material reviews, and field meetings you will support safe and proper workmanship on construction projects.
Essential Duties
Perform inspections of the construction, repair, and alteration of roads, bridges, storm drain, and other public facilities. Ensure methods and materials comply with construction plans and specifications.
Enforces traffic control and traffic safety regulations at project sites.
Document progress, complete daily report and compile composite reports. Review all stages of construction projects.
Record material quantities and perform and/or observe and document field testing for compliance with standards. Prepare sketches of completed work to document construction including verifying grades and elevations.
Attend field meetings to communicate with contractors, architects, and engineers to resolve issues.
Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.
Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
