What You Will Do

Gannett Fleming 's Construction Management Practice in New Jersey is currently seeking Construction Inspectors with Roadway and Bridge experience for upcoming openings throughout NJ. (Marlton, NJ; Piscataway, NJ; Newark, NJ)

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5-10 years applicable experience in Transportation Construction Management is required.

  • Experience with transportation agencies such as the NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, Port Authority of NY and NJ.

  • Nicet Certifcation is preferred.

  • ACI, NJSAT, Rutgers Traffic Control, Certifications all a plus

  • Familiarity with CapEX or "Site Manager" a plus.

VIEW JOBS 5/8/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-08-06T00:00 Title: Project Manager, Design and Construction Department: VP Real Estate Dev/Capital Ops Reports To: Assistant Vice President for Campus Planning, Design, and Construction Position Type: Staff Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Campus Planning, Design and Construction, the incumbent is responsible for planning and design of campus physical improvements, new construction and renovation projects, landscape, and other design and construction work as may be required. The Project Manager, Design and Construction will assist in the management of planning, architectural, and engineering consultants to maintain the University's aesthetic, functional, and technical objectives, including longevity, sustainability, functionality, maintainability, and architectural appropriateness. The incumbent will assist in the management of large and small capital improvement and renewal projects through a cross functional team, including, but not limited to, technical experts in Facilities Services and Information Technology, to execute the assigned projects. The Project Manager will work with students, faculty, administration and staff to implement the goals and objectives of the University Strategic Plan, Facilities Master Plan, and campus standards and guidelines as it relates to their responsibilities. Essential Functions: Assist in the management of the programming, design, and execution of construction projects within budget and on schedule. Monitor assigned projects as executed by construction managers and general contractors from conception through commissioning so they conform to design intent. Assist in the preparation of RFP's and selection process for planning and architectural and engineering (A/E) services consultants. Assist in the oversight of A/E service consultants and coordinate with the technical experts in Technical Services, Building Services, Security Systems Services, Information Technology and other appropriate service departments. Assist in the recommendation of improvements, substitutions, and cost savings to project plans based on knowledge and experience. Track project expenditures and cost accounting, including accuracy, approvals and payment reporting, validate and manage project financials. Utilize an online project management system to perform these tasks in addition to traditional project management recordkeeping. Attend and participate in construction meetings at project site location and record meeting minutes as needed. Foster effective and positive business relations with all parties throughout project phases. Ensure that project safety is managed effectively, proactively and consistently. Provide regular, written updates to the Assistant Vice President for Campus Planning, Design, and Construction and as requested, the Vice President for Real Estate Development and Capital Operations, on assigned projects regarding project schedule, budget, and outcomes versus objectives. Additional Functions: Ensure the update of space plans, drawing databases, and other information systems occurs after project completion as necessary to assess needs, make future project decisions, and produce accurate reports; Assists in the development of project programs, costs projections, and general background information for the University capital renewal and replacement program and related campus projects. Assists in the development of programming and feasibility studies for renovation and new construction projects for buildings, landscape, and other improvements. Participates in various committees and shared governance groups, under the supervision of the Assistant VP, to oversee the Facilities Master Plan and its implementation for new construction and capital renewal and replacement; Assists in the preparation of designs, plans, specifications and estimates for various small construction projects on campus. Perform additional duties as designated by the Assistant Vice President for Campus Planning, Design, and Construction and/or the Vice President for Real Estate Development and Capital Operations. Prerequisite Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, planning or a related field; A minimum of three (3) years experience as a project manager with a medium to large construction management firm or general contractor, university, or another campus environment; Thorough knowledge of principles and best practices of architecture and design, building materials, current methods and techniques used in building construction and renovations; Ability to organize, prioritize and perform under pressure in both public and internal capacities; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Strong interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, planning or a related field; Five (5) years experience as a project manager at a university or another campus environment; Professional registration in architecture, engineering or landscape architecture in the State of New Jersey; Extensive computer literacy including working knowledge of typical office software products, computer-aided design systems, project management and estimating software; Experience in the planning, design, and construction of teaching and research laboratories in the fields of chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, architecture, computer science, and inter-related disciplines.
