Job Summary:

This is mid level to advanced level technical work work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers in construction inspection of vertical or linear construction projects. Work usually involves a significant amount of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work direction

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Construction Inspector will perform the following:

• Independent complex inspections of roadways and/or structures and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract.

• Moderately complex inspections; or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections. Work may include inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and bridge structures and/or vertical structures for conformance to plans, and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.

• Contract documentation duties, which includes field measurements of pay items as well as other required documentation.

• Complex variety of calculations and computations.

• Participate in Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
