Overview

Carollo Engineers is a nationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking a Construction Inspector to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects construction contract related to water and wastewater facilities

  • Reviews contract plans and specifications for constructability, notes, errors, omissions and potential problem areas

  • Schedules, plans, coordinates, and completes site inspections

  • Coordinates construction related system outages with client facilities

  • Prepares complete inspection reports and maintains a daily diary

  • Maintains complete project files including a project photo file

  • Keeps detailed records of construction progress, changed conditions, and as built drawings

  • Prepares monthly estimates of quantity of construction completed

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with contractors, consultant, and owner

  • Responsible for actions and performance of Junior Level Construction Inspectors

  • Mentors and trains Junior Construction Inspectors

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of standard construction specifications, codes and special standards, methods, materials and equipment used in construction of water and wastewater facilities

  • Working knowledge of methods of soil compaction and density testing procedures, properties and uses of concrete, and techniques of handling, placing, curing and sampling concrete

  • In-depth understanding of OSHA Construction Safety Orders

  • Ability to keep neat, accurate, and concise records

  • Work independently with minimum supervision

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Strong computer and internet skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2-5 years experience of responsible field inspection

  • Completion of OSHA 10 hour safety course and other construction training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two year technical or Associate Degree in a related technical field

VIEW JOBS 3/10/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-08T00:00 David Evans and Associates, Inc. is looking to add an entry level Construction Inspector to our Transportation group based in our Portland, OR office. This position will provide on-site construction inspection and applicable documentation for transportation projects. This includes observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, as well as providing assistance and support for design projects including curb ramps. Responsibilities: * Perform technical calculations and related work in the field or office. * Inspect, observe and document project is constructed in accordance with contract documents. * Maintain accurate daily record of the work (labor, equipment, materials, and quantities). * Communicate with the Construction Manager, Project Engineer, or other field engineering staff. * Assist in developing design projects for construction. * Calculating quantities and producing sketches in excel, CADD, or by hand * Assisting in assessment of existing curb ramps for future construction projects Basic Qualifications: * Basic computer skills in word and excel * Ability to work effectively and efficiently with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates * Excellent skills in working independently and asking appropriate questions * Effectively multitask and prioritize and track construction issues through to completion * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to work in a team environment * High school diploma * Proficiency in basic math skills * Ability to obtain ODOT inspector certifications within 12 months by taking training classes Desirable Qualifications: * Knowledge of the practices used and the equipment required on construction projects * Excellent skills in working independently Transportation Jobs with DEA The increasing complexities of modern transportation include growing demands, aging infrastructure, rising costs, funding challenges, and environmental concerns.
