This job is located at our Shop location in Apollo, PA.

Position Summary:

The primary purpose of the Construction Equipment Mechanic position is to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair company vehicles and equipment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be able to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.

  • Repair and rebuild defective components, including engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.

  • Fabricate and repair metal parts as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.

  • Perform maintenance on company vehicles/machinery/equipment, which include oil changes, inspections, and other routine checks.

  • Repair company vehicles/machinery/equipment.

  • Ability to read wiring and hydraulic schematics.

  • Ability to use or learn to use diagnostic software.

  • Maintain company tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure proper use.

  • Ensure the practice of safety standards in accordance with company policies and OSHA.

  • Operate a service truck when needed.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • May occasionally be required to use a computer with keyboard, telephone, or handheld mobile device for extended periods of time, and other equipment/machinery/vehicles as needed.

  • Will frequently be exposed to risk of accident and/or unpleasant elements (e.g., extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, heights, uneven work surfaces, and hazardous substances).

  • Will occasionally be required to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy items and materials.

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl for extended periods or when needed.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in, and understand, English.

  • Required to utilize personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses & boots) at appropriate times.

Workdays & Shifts:

  • 7:00AM - 5:30PM (Monday
  • Thursday) & 7:00AM - 3:30PM (Friday).
  • May be required to work outside core operating hours as requested.

Education/Certification(s)/License(s):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred.
  • CDL License, Class A
  • Preferred.
  • Class 7 PA Inspection License
  • Preferred.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of two years (2) experience working as a Mechanic in a shop environment
  • Preferred.
  • Familiarity with heavy highway construction equipment/machinery
  • Required.
  • Experience with medium and heavy-duty truck and equipment repairs
  • Preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Required.

Other Requirements:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screens & background check, including MVR.

  • Must be in a union or be willing to join a union.
