Construction Engineer

Description:

This client is seeking a construction engineer who will report to the Lead Construction Manager. Daily work activities will include coordination between Inspector Resident Project Representatives (RPRs), Project Engineers, and Project Managers. This person will assist in training and overseeing inspection staff to ensure project time, cost management, documentation, communication, risk management, and quality assurance. This person will also be responsible for acting as a RPR on projects - filling in on projects when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide guidance and oversight to construction inspectors and assist with job site inspection as-needed.

• Fill in for inspectors (RPRs) on the job sites - covering when RPRs are not available

• Assist with facilitating and conducting regularly scheduled construction meetings.

• Coordinate with contractors to schedule inspection activities and help resolve design and field issues.

• Assist with project management for technical and cost efforts to meet deadlines and budgets.

• Oversee validation of products and materials ordered for projects to verify their conformance to specifications.

• Ensure federal, state and local regulations for construction procedures and safe working conditions.

TRAVEL

• Candidates must be willing to travel to job sites across the State of Indiana and Kentucky. This includes overnight travel at times - like the RPR this person will be required to travel.

• Travel would be Indiana and some parts of Kentucky possibly

• Person will use own vehicle and mileage will be reimbursed by Commonwealth at federal reimbursement rate.

• Need to have reliable transportation

LOCATION

• Someone who lives in Central Indiana that can work out of the Indy North office would be preferred. But if we find qualified candidates outside of this area he would consider them.

• Ideally, the manager would like this person to "cover" the southern half of Indiana and Kentucky. He would have the current construction engineer (Kyle Wofford) cover the northern half of Indiana.

• If he find someone South of Indianapolis that would be good (work out of Indy HQ, Indy North, or possibly Evansville)

PAY RATES

1.Civil Engineering Degree: $33.18 - $39.73

2.CM Degree or no degree: $30.28 - $38.90

LOOKING FOR:

1.B.S. or Technology Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or Related Degree and professional experience in construction inspection or construction oversight/management of water / wastewater projects (2-5 years) OR no degree and 10+ years of professional experience in construction inspection or construction oversight/management of water / wastewater projects.

2.Ability to read/interpret construction plan sets, project drawings and project specifications

3.Proficiency in MS Word / Excel with the ability to prepare professional documents

4.Ability to analyze project costs, understanding of bidding, estimating and project risk assessment

NICE TO HAVE:

• Familiarity with federally-funded infrastructure is a plus

• Experience with Procore is a plus

• Previous Construction Inspection Experience

• Underground Utilities experience

• Sewer or Wastewater plant experience

• Ability to run professional meetings
