JOB SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, responsible for project managing multiple, complex, large fiber SMB and enterprise construction projects including validating current plan design based on company records, and gathering relevant information regarding scope of work and costs related to lager interconnect fiber builds and splicing documentation and coordination. Coordinate multiple advanced, complex construction projects through in-house labor for building, repairing and maintaining Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) and fiber plant. Ensure quality of work performed meets established technical standards and company policies.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Coordinate multiple advanced, complex SMB and enterprise construction projects for building, repairing and maintaining Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) and fiber plant.

Complete and certify SMB/Hospitality builds.

Oversee large interconnect fiber builds, as well as splicing documentation and coordination.

Coordinate enterprise fiber construction where muxes and demuxes are deployed in the field.

Coordinate complex SMB/MDU Design and video products (Q2Q and Clear QAM).

Coordinate DWDM core upgrades.

Coordinate with engineers and developers in designing the plant by performing site surveys of as-built and proposed projects.

Assist Design team in fiber optic documentation.

Actively participate in Design meetings.

Complete Bill of Materials, cost estimates, PO and CPR.

Ensure map databases are updated with any system changes per company design specifications.

Prepare system maps and/or print packages for distribution.

Perform site inspections for quality control in accordance with Technical Quality Assurance (TQA) standards.

Coordinate permitting and make ready process.

Provide oversight of contract labor management, including adherence to scope of work and quality standards.

Respond to customer concerns.

Communicate with Project Manager or designated supervisor regarding concerns about construction progress.

Perform emergency locates as necessary.

Assist in providing on the job training and mentoring to Construction Coordinator I and Construction Coordinator II.

Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.

Know, understand and follow company policies.

Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, and suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner

Ability to use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers

Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including gaffs, ladders, and fully loaded tool belts

Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as gaffs, safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment

Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices

Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx. 32 ft. high and 90 pounds)

Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt as needed

Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires

Ability to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting

Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints

Ability to operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position (e.g. signal level meters, ohm meters, etc.)

Ability to perform job from high places (i.e. poles and roofs)

Ability to work while standing 50-70% of the time

Ability to work with small components and wires to make cable connections

Ability to use handheld communication devices and applications

Ability to dig in all types of soil

Ability to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner

Ability to operate machinery used for underground/overhead cable installation

Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

Ability to work independently

Ability to use personal computer, mobile, and software applications

Knowledge of basic mathematics and electronics

Knowledge of company products and services

Knowledge of National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code

Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent work experience

Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E) preferred

Related Work Experience Number of Years

Construction Coordinator II or equivalent work experience 1+

Certifications and/or Licenses

Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company required standards

  • NCTI Fiber Installation & Activation
  • NCTI Fiber Testing and Maintenance or,
  • SCTE Broadband Transportation Specialist

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office and field environment

Work indoors in confined space, poorly ventilated areas such as attics, basements, crawlspaces and/or manholes

Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, rodents, pets, and cleaning solutions

Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night

Work performed near power lines and electricity

Work performed at various heights above ground on telephone/power poles

Work and travel in inclement weather

May be required to work an on-call rotation as the business needs dictate

Occasionally required to work overtime as the business needs dictate

Ability to work weekends or a second shift as the business needs dictate

Work in commercial or factory type environments

Work is performed independently under minimal supervision. Job location is 2433 NW 24th. Examples of Work * Prepares project initiation, investigation, and conceptual design, participates in consultant selection, coordinates facility design with user requirements, reviews and approves design and construction change orders. * Reviews construction plans and specifications/blueprints for construction projects and determines scope of work, making field measurements and handles and prepares estimates for labor/materials for projects. Prepares communications and time/cost documentation for Architects/Engineers, Contractors, the State of Nebraska Military Department, the National Guard Bureau and others. * Conducts pre-construction meetings. Coordinates project scheduling among Surveyors, Engineering or Architectural Consultants, Contractors, Agency Personnel, and the State Fire Marshal. * Acts as a liaison officer between the State and Consulting Engineers/Architects who are designing and supervising construction projects valued from a few thousand to a several million dollars. Confers with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to discuss and resolve issues such as work procedures, complaints, and/or construction problems. * Develops plans and specifications for smaller projects completed without the assistance of consulting architect/engineers particularly for HVAC projects, electrical projects, roof replacement projects, and for general civil engineering projects. Prepares drawings and documentation for project development using computer assisted drafting (AutoCAD) technology and PC systems * Prepares and reviews military construction proposals for submission to National Guard Bureau. • Utilizes word, excel, power point and construction databases to create required reports and correspondence. * Conducts onsite government inspections during constructions, and resolves technical problems, and acceptance of contract deliverables. * Reviews and approves vouchers/invoices for reasonableness and applicability of costs and for the appropriateness of the fee claimed (i.e. whether fees can rightfully be claimed based on progress, delivery, or the percentage of work completed.) * Maintains adequate records to sufficiently describe the performance of the duties of the Facilities Construction Coordinator during the life of the project and to distribute such documentation as applicable. * Approves final punch list and completion of construction or capital improvement projects. * Some travel. Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or construction plus eight years work experience in construction or construction inspection. Extensive work experience in construction business may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. PREFERRED: In addition the the above qualifications, experience working with CAD programs and CAD standards is desired. Other/Special Note: Instate/out of state travel, with occasional overnight travel for training etc. Valid driver's license.
