Construction Coordinator Salary Range: $35.38 - $39.86 hourly Department: Capital Improvement Programs Salary Grade: 75 Length of Work Year: 239 Days Reports To: Construction Manager Minimum Qualification Standards Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reviews technical specifications; reviews construction documents to ensure compliance with specifications, assists in the selection of Architects and Contractors for the Construction Projects. Monitors the daily progress of all assigned projects; identifies schedule concerns, manages the resolution of all concerns with the Architect and Contractor; reports any and all concerns to the Construction Manager and Director of Construction. Reviews Constructor's preliminary pay requests.

Reviews requests for payment from vendors, consultants, General Contractors and Architects. Participates in meetings with support and construction teams to ensure all stakeholders are included in the design process and to ensure successful completion of projects on time and within budget and coordinate all work done by owner's employees with contractor. Performs daily oversight of contracts for Architects, Contractors and Vendors on each project, manages the work on each, and keeps the Construction Manager and Director of Construction supplied with up-to-date information on each project.

Maintains daily contact with contractors and superintendents to ensure issues that arise are handled quickly to prevent delays; observes all work done by the contractor to evaluate quality of workmanship and communications any concerns to the Architect. Provides after-hour access of school system facilities to Contractors, Vendors and Architects as needed and monitors all after-hour work performed by these participants (as-needed basis). Ensures that daily/weekly/monthly reports from Contractors, Architects and Engineers are submitted to the construction department; evaluates and makes recommendations on Change Order requests from Contractors and/or Consultants. Reviews all Closeout documents to insure that they are complete and accurate prior to approving final payments to Contractors and Architects. (No time frame - done at the end of each project.). Coordinates or determines time, place or sequence of operations or activities based on analysis of data or information and may implement and report on operations and activities.

Persuades or influences others in favor of a service, point of view or course of action; may enforce laws, rules, regulations, or ordinances. Reviews all projects during planning, construction and closeout for quality assurance, to maximize project efficiency, record keeping and data controls. Performs related work as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Reads professional literature and technical manuals; speaks to groups of employees, other public and private groups; writes manuals and complex reports. Responsible for the actions of others, requiring almost constant decisions affecting co-workers, customers, clients or others in the general public; works in a moderately fluid environment with guidelines and rules, but frequent variations from the routine.

Performs coordinating work involving guidelines and rules, with constant problem solving; requires continuous, close attention for accurate results for frequent exposure to usual pressures. Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building/Construction preferred or relevant Project Management experience (5 years or more) considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

Requires two years' experience in building, construction, project management, engineering, architecture, or closely related experience. Certificate and License Requirements: None Physical Demands: Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
