Construction Department

The Construction team is responsible for the management of delivering data centers from conception through commissioning, working with Sales, Operations, Development, and Engineering along the way. Construction also works closely with partner contractors to come up with a vertically integrated design and manages these partners to deliver the projects on schedule and budget. Many times, a role like this at other companies is purely oversight. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our technical staff is given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process. When compared to external resources, our internal team can align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high- impact decisions and even more impactful results.

Position Overview

This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA.

Vantage is looking for a thorough Construction Analyst who likes numbers, muti-tasking, and does not mind heavy data entry at times. This role will assist various members of the Construction Cost Finance team with preparation of information, CAPEX invoices and commitments. You will assist the Construction Cost Managers in the review and processing of pay application billings, budgets, insurance certificates, and other support documentation, and assist other members of the Construction Cost Finance team with data analysis, accounting projects and other administrative tasks!

Essential Job Functions

• Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

• Assist with pay application billing review, data entry and payment tracker

• Assist with reviewing and issuing CAPEX Commitments, change orders, budgets, and forecasts

• Vendor setup and Job setup

• Data research, compilation, and analysis

• Document Management:

• Lien waiver and project document control

• Document control in both SharePoint and Procore

• Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to gather and analyze cost data.

• Communicate financial information and insights to internal collaborators, ensuring visibility and informed decision-making.

• Participate in project meetings to provide financial updates and support project planning.

• Process Improvement:

• Find opportunities for process improvements in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting.

• Implement standard methodologies and streamline processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in construction cost management

• Operational Excellence and Strategic Counsel

• Serve as trusted partner to VP, Construction, providing objective counsel and strategic construction insights

• Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare briefings to support informed decision-making.

• Implement effective program management practices ensuring completion of initiatives.

• Build and maintain client & project collaborator relationships

• Additional duties as assigned by Management

Job Requirements

• Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.

• Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction cost analysis, project accounting, or a related role, preferably in the data center or technology industry.

• Invoice review and processing experience is required

• Construction industry/ job cost experience is required

• Skills:

• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

• Basic understanding of construction cost accounting is required

• Knowledge of job cost accounting, GAAP is preferred, but not required

• Procore, Sharepoint and Power BI knowledge strongly preferred

• Ability to analyze complex business concepts and documents

• Ability to effectively respond to critical issues, complex inquiries, or complaints

• Provide a high-level of commitment to customer service with co-workers and stakeholders

• Skilled at solving problems and taking care of a variety of options with limited information

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule for

• Successful candidate must be a great teammate and able to work with a variety of people.

• This position requires an organized individual with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and to prioritize work effort, all with minimal direction.

• Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves

Additional Details

• Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
