Cubed Construction is a rapidly growing general contracting and construction management firm servicing the Chicago-metro area and surrounding suburbs. We specialize in the renovation of multi-family, mixed use, retail and office buildings. Our client base is real estate investment-centric and we enjoy access to a generous pipeline of work through our sister property management company, 33.

We are looking for the right candidate to join our growing team to spearhead the administrative and accounting tasks associated with construction projects. You will be responsible for the assembly, collection and review all project subcontractor/supplier lien waivers. You should be able to tell us about your track record of success as a team player, who handles all communications with title companies and lenders for draws and disbursements with great attention to detail.

It is important to us that you feel motivated to be at work as you will be working independently with a broad range of clients. Your ability to own your daily tasks in an autonomous capacity will be critical to your success. Were looking for self-starters that can take a project from start to finish without continuous oversight.

The position will include a wide variety of responsibilities including:

  • Prepare monthly applications for payment on AIA-approved payment request forms
  • Manage payment distribution to all subcontractors and major suppliers.
  • Enter and maintain change order documentation
  • Reconcile subcontractor and client budgets to executed contracts
  • Record cost transfers in accounting software
  • Perform final accounting for all construction projects and handle warranty payments / collections
  • Manage and communicate cash flow of all active projects to senior management
  • Participate in project review meetings and visit job sites as necessary
  • Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable
  • Monitor project revenue and assist the project managers in resolving variances
  • Contribute to accounting team meetings with knowledge sharing and process improvement ideas


We are seeking candidates who possess the following skill set:

  • Individual must have strong working knowledge of the construction process
  • Experience with pay requests, sworn statements, certified payroll, waivers and certificate of insurance is needed, as well as experience with various title companies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills, efficiency, and attention to details is critical
  • Must be a self-starter that can independently take a project from start to finish without continuous oversight
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft programs, especially Excel
  • Experience with Quickbooks
  • Proven work experience in construction (2 to 5 years preferred)
  • BA in Accounting, Finance or equivalent construction experience

The anticipated duration of the project is one year with an estimated work schedule of 6 days per week at 10 hours per day. Responsibilities In this position, you will have an opportunity to work for an industry leader. This position will also provide you with the ability to identify areas of improvement in site/work conditions, as well as, executing various safety programs. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: * Develop and execute health and safety plans for the Project, according to regulatory and Client guidelines. * Prepare and implement safety policies and procedures to establish a culture of health and safety. * Evaluation site practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the Project Safety Plan. * Conduct training and presentations on health and safety matters, and accident prevention to site/project personnel. * Monitor compliance with policies and laws by inspecting and observing the workforce and site operations. * Inspection of equipment and machinery to report unsafe conditions and mitigate situations. * Investigate incidents and/or accidents to develop root cause analysis and make recommendations for improvement and prevention of future cases. * Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics. Qualifications This position requires someone who has a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, Construction Management, Safety Management or related area, or 10 years of equivalent experience in construction management, or construction safety management. In order to qualify, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience: * Solid understanding of legal health and safety guidelines, policies, and principles. * OSHA 30 Certification. * Strong ability to create and produce detailed reports and develop relevant safety policies. * Solid knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment, HITRA preferred. * Confined space rescue and retrieval training. * Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organization and motivational skills. * Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to observe and account for what is happening in situations and interactions in the day-to-day. * Ability to interact in a multidisciplinary project team/workforce setting.
