The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) seeks a Director of Constituent Services to provide stakeholder communications that promote recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centered services. This position is responsible for tracking, coordinating, and drafting responses to stakeholders; as well as responding directly to constituent concerns or complaints in a timely, accurate and compassionate manner.
Stakeholders include individuals receiving services, family members, advocates and advocacy groups, providers, legislators and their staff, other agencies and community providers, and other interested people. This position also uses a collaborative approach to coordinate the efforts of various DBHDS offices in researching and formulating responses to the Office of the Governor, Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Resources (SHHR), Office of the State Inspector General (OSIG), the Disability Law Center of Virginia, and other agencies regarding concerns related to the provision of behavioral health and developmental disability services. This position would also be responsible for amending or developing an efficient process to respond to constituent inquiries, working with various DBHDS offices to implement the process and providing training as necessary.
The selected candidate must have excellent writing and communication skills. The candidate should have knowledge of and familiarity with the provision of health and human services, preferably behavioral health and developmental disability services, at state and community levels. Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision regarding office management and procedures and to prioritize and accomplish tasks according to workload; ability to communicate with stakeholders, the public, and staff effectively and in a professional manner via telephone, in person, and in writing; be proficient in word processing (Microsoft Office Suite, Word, etc.), data management, and presentation software and have the ability to meet deadlines with accurate and professional work product.
Preferred qualifications include undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in public, hospital, or business administration; psychology or social work; marketing or public relations; or a related field of study.
