Consignment Director - American Art

Heritage Auctions is the largest auction house founded in the U.S. and serves more than 45 different auction categories, including Coins, Sports, Comics, Historical, Jewelry, Fine & Decorative Arts, Wine, and many more.SUMMARY: This position is responsible for evaluating property, acquiring consignments, building relationships, generating and responding to leads, participating with catalog production and sales processes, among other duties.LOCATION: Park Ave at 56thCOMPENSATION: Commensurate based on experience. $80K - $120KESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties as may be assigned.

· Evaluate property and establish auction estimates.

· Acquire consignments both through Heritage-generated and individually-generated leads.

· Assist with authenticity evaluations.

· Assist in writing essays.

· Assist in proofing catalogs and other material.

· Market the property in auctions to clients.

· Contribute to the expansion of the client database.

· Answer inquiries before, during, and after the auction.

· Travel as needed to meet with clients and review the property for potential consignment.

· Actively participate in auctions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· 5+ years experience in a major auction house preferred and/or as a commercial dealer focusing on American Art; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
