As a member of the Product Management team, the Connectivity Product Manager is responsible for leading the product management and operations of the Connectivity product portfolio, including broadband Internet service, voice/home phone, Wi-Fi, smart home/home security, and premium services. This role is accountable for delivering comprehensive and innovative products that attract new customer relationships and retain our current subscribers.

Provide business success by meeting user needs through the continual planning and execution of product solutions, and have a market-driven focus to provide long-term, sustainable, and profitable business

Serve as a market expert of both product and the organization to drive strategy, and bring products to market with an effective product-market fit - the right product delivered at the right time to the right customer

Responsible for researching technological developments and trends, and competitor strengths and weaknesses

Understand what the customer needs and how to create a product that meets that need. Validates the product through customer interviews, prototypes, and beta tests

Supports the Connectivity Products leader to successfully deliver upon operational, customer experience and financial KPIs

Partner with cross-functional teams to execute the operational details of each product launch/change identified in the project plan, as defined in the launch process document

Help identify potential communication challenges associated with Product initiatives to establish the appropriate messaging and ensure that Call Centers, Stores and Sales Reps are appropriately informed

This position is based in Long Island City (Queens), NY

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to manage operating expenses against established budgets

  • Advanced knowledge of business to consumer telecommunications products and technologies with product management and/or product development responsibility a plus

  • Experience with Broadband or internet access products and services specifically a plus; solid understanding of broadband access technologies, Wi-Fi and wireless technologies, home automation/IoT and home security a plus

  • Engineering background and/or technical expertise in technology not required

  • Minimum of 5 years of non-technical product management, consumer packaged goods brand management, cable, telecom or technology experience, managing complex, strategic projects under minimal or no supervision

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required, MBA or relevant Master's Degree a plus

  • Exceptional interpersonal/people skills including verbal and written communications skills, including listening and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate communications and projects across cross functional teams

  • Experience in the lifecycle of development and customer experience

  • Strong business acumen and knowledgeable across many functional areas, including product management, business development, product marketing, engineering, and marketing

  • Strong understanding of business fundamentals of a product and market (like share gains, profitability, addressable market)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives and work cross-functionally and across all levels of the organization

VIEW JOBS 2/27/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-27T00:00 Position Summary: The Department of Education's (DOE) Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) is committed to ensuring that over 1 million students have access to healthy food choices with high nutritional standards while offering delicious, healthy, and satisfying menu options. OFNS has a critical impact as it serves over 860,000 total meals daily throughout the five boroughs of New York City. The Food Product Development Scientist will support the Office of Menu Management on all aspects of the USDA National School Breakfast and Lunch Program and NYC Food Standards adherence, including formulation, processes, and testing involved with new product research and development or enhancements to existing products. The incumbent will review production to ensure that all menus, recipes, and products are 100% nutritionally compliant with USDA and citywide nutritional standards. The Food Product Development Scientist will also participate in sensory evaluations and trials, finding new ways to improve the safety, flavor, or nutritional value of different food products. Performs related work. Reports to: Director of Menu Management Direct Reports: N/A Key Relationships: Relationships will be fostered with school-level administration, school food administrators, students, parents, and other DOE divisions and City agencies. Responsibilities * Supports in the nutritional analysis of new products including the review and testing of new food item ingredients, prototypes, competitive products, and production samples for compliance with Federal and NYC regulations; reviews product specification documents and labels for accuracy and alignment with USDA National School Breakfast Program/National School Lunch Program nutritional standards. * Documents ingredients, formulations, processes, and testing involved with new product research and development or enhancements to existing products; assists in the creation and analysis of specialized menus to accommodate specific dietary needs. * Utilizes a proprietary menu management system to analyze nutritional aspects of menus and create nutritional reports on 31 menus monthly; reviews new recipes and menus to verify adherence to USDA and NYC Food Guidelines. * Assists with the transition to a new menu management system that will require extensive preparation, including converting data and centralizing nutritional, pricing, and general product information from multiple sources and workgroups; tests the new software system and assists the menu management team with determining information gaps. * Reviews laboratory analysis reports related to the quality of nutrient ingredients required of contracted vendors; ensures that these requirements are maintained and determines the course of action in cases of adverse analysis reports. * Maintains all nutrition-related standard operating procedures to reflect the most up-to-date information for the internal OFNS team as well as audits and public knowledge use. Qualification Requirements: For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health. NOTE: Probationary Period Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year. Plus Registered Dietitian (RD) certification Preferred * Master of Science or Master of Public Health. * General knowledge of food service/culinary terms/cooking, including knowledge of food measurements and conversions. * General knowledge of USDA meal pattern for school-age children. * Familiarity with menu management or nutritional analysis systems. * Experience managing a large amount of data and data analysis programs. * Flexibility in managing competing tasks, working independently, and as a part of a team. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. * Internal applicants preferred.
