This position serves as a Configuration Toolset Specialist I, assisting in providing professional application support of a limited scope in the configuration, customization, and administration of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB). In this role you will work with and assist IT staff to configure the Service Mapping tool and load data/dependencies identified by Service Mapping into the CMDB. In addition, you will assist in establishing and documenting service data models and with implementation (i.e., workflow development) and performance metric development and tracking of progress. Essential Functions
35% Under immediate supervision, serves as a Configuration Toolset Specialist I for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT):
Assists in providing professional application support of a limited scope in the configuration, customization, and administration of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
Implements configuration changes to ServiceNow base forms and lists.
Provides input for defining and managing the structure of the configuration management system.
Assists with maintaining records and configuration items (CI) in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and assists with developing and scheduling reports to the Reporting Console
Assists with the administration of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) process within the organization.
Works closely with other process leads to ensure asset specific information may be gathered and disseminated using efficient and consistently followed processes.
Assists in performing ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping processes.
Troubleshoots and provides corrective action for configuration errors.
Utilizes Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes including Asset Management Service Catalog, Incident, Problem and Change Management; and HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript in the performance of duties.
Utilizes Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and Project in the performance of duties.
25% Performs limited assignments and assists IT staff to configure the Service Mapping tool and load data/dependencies identified by Service Mapping into the CMDB:
Assists IT staff in the integration/field mapping and reconciliation of data from ServiceNow discovery, Service Mapping, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), SolarWinds, and ad hoc loads in the configuration management module.
Deploys core functionality in an out-of-the-box ServiceNow CMDB system.
Assists with implementing ServiceNow CMDB technology and architectural concepts.
Assists in developing a CI naming schema and gains client acceptance.
Gains knowledge to make recommendations to data standardization/normalization processes based on client data and requirements to ensure data is effectively imported and maintained in a CMDB.
20% Assists in establishing and documenting service data models and with implementation (i.e., workflow development) and performance metric development and tracking of progress:
Assists with audits of CMDB data to ensure data is accurate.
Assists IT staff with maintaining CMDB data which is not discoverable by automated tools.
Essential Functions Continued
10% Assists in providing interpretation/guidance of asset management, configuration management, and change management processes to IT staff:
Performs change reconciliations for data in the CMDB and assists with tasks related to implementing the ServiceNow application in the IT environment.
Works with key stakeholders in documenting procedures for the discovery, configuration and change management functions.
Assists in developing, modifying, and configuring reports, dashboards, and outputs associated with the change, configuration, discovery, and mapping functions.
5% Keeps abreast of innovation and advancements on the ServiceNow Platform and the IT field:
Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
OR
Requires satisfactory completion of an agency sponsored training program.
Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Elementary knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes including Asset Management Service Catalog, Incident, Problem or Change Management.
Elementary knowledge of asset, change, and configuration management processes.
Elementary knowledge of configuring and administering a ServiceNow Configuration Management Database or similar configuration management database.
Elementary knowledge of ServiceNow discovery, configuration items, and change management.
Elementary knowledge of data privacy regulations.
Elementary knowledge of programming/scripting languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Elementary knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and Project.
