The opportunity:

This position is responsible for the development/integration and administration of the inventory discovery and configuration management systems in support of IT asset and configuration management initiatives at OpenText. Experience with OCS Inventory NG, HP uCMDB and UD technologies is a big plus. Relevant networking management and scripting experience (e.g., Python / PERL / PowerShell) are must-haves for this role.

You are great at:

  • Supporting on-going asset discovery and mapping, development and administration of the OCS Inventory NG environment (i.e., DB, Communication, Deployment Servers and Admin Console) and assist with the deployment of its discovery agents

  • Working with uCMDB admins to integrate and reconcile asset discovery data with the uCMDB

  • Mapping discovered CIs/Assets to the appropriate Business Services and Groups in uCMDB

  • Helping automate repetitive tasks, prevent recurring issues and increase the usefulness and accuracy of inventoried data

  • Interacting with Business representatives to ensure their requirements are being met within the framework of the tools available

  • Developing solutions to meet the business requirements while meeting time and cost constraints

  • Adhering to IT Change Management and other ITIL best practices

What it takes:

  • A Bachelor's degree, College diploma or equivalent work experience

  • OCS Inventory NG development and admin experience (preferred) and familiarity with the plugins/packages which commonly support OCS Inventory NG

  • Strong experience with LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP and especially PERL scripting)

  • 3 to 5 years' of networking experience

  • Extensive network administration/automation experience and advanced working knowledge of common virtualization, integration and networking technologies and protocols (e.g., VMWare, SOAP, SNMP, DNS, TCP/IP, etc.)

  • Advanced programming, SQL and shell scripting skills (e.g., C/C++, Java, PERL, Python, PHP, PowerShell, SSH/WMI, JavaScript, etc.)

  • Ability to effectively partner with business users to refine requirements and discuss functional/technical designs

  • Working knowledge of ITIL/ITSM/ITAM software packages

  • An aptitude to learn new technology quickly and excellent written and oral communication skills

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • The ability to handle multiple streams of work effectively

You will help to define robust APIs and assist in their implementation using a collection of open-source and third-party software services to ensure that the configuration management solution integrates with the DevOps environment. * Candidate should be motivated and able to provide self-direction in addition to being able to lead small Research and Development teams. * This position will work closely with developers, customers, Government lab partners, and vendor partners to create complete solutions for the effective management of large-scale parallel systems.
