As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will facilitate configuration development and control for both launch and crewed vehicles for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the configuration development lifecycle. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall physical integration and packaging of the movable structural, mechanical, fluids and electrical subsystems within the integrated ground support equipment

  • Create and manage interface definitions between equipment subsystems and modules with appropriate control documents and ensure that the configuration supports major design reviews and the integration milestones

  • Ensure manufacturing assembly, integrated test and concept of operations strategies are developed concurrently with the equipment module design

  • Support development of system requirements, flow down, and verification planning

  • Coordinate regular configuration reviews to address module level interfaces, subsystem functionality, assembly and operations

  • Interface with construction contractors on assembly planning and on-site integration

  • Manage inter module development priorities and expectations as resolution of integration issues between lead engineers and their respective teams

  • Clear communication and collaboration with all development teams involved on projects

  • Maintain and report on development activity, schedule, budget and technical issues

  • Provide technical assistance to integration and testing activities

  • Lead and coordinate the cross-functional change management process, facilitating design reviews and ensuring communication between all groups affected by the change

  • Lead cross-functional trade and impact studies to assist in development of ECRs and overall coordination of changes

  • Ensure the team adheres to the configuration management best practices as well as Blue Origin configuration management standards

  • Contribute to configuration management best practices and knowledge

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in engineering and at least 5 years of experience in the development and packaging of large structural support equipment used in oil/gas, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures

  • Demonstrated configuration control experience on recently developed large support equipment used in oil/gas, aircraft, or launch vehicles from early trade studies through final design, and into manufacturing and test.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and experience working in a highly integrated cross-functional team environment

  • Good judgment and flexibility, and oriented on achieving results

  • Strong design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software and visualization tools

  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling and planning principles and tools

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience using PTC Creo and Windchill

  • Participated in a recognized configuration management training (CMII)

  • Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques and related quality control concepts

  • Ability to interpret and apply high-level system requirements to practical design solutions

Typical systems include high pressure gas and cryogenic fluid systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities * Design launch pad piping systems supporting rocket propellants and pneumatics * Perform fluid and structural analysis of new or modified designs * Select components and collaborate on system safety and process hazards analysis * Creation of models and drawings of designs * Perform system and component level analyses and document results * Review specifications and statements of work * Coordinate with suppliers on costs, schedule, and technical design requirements * Assist with oversight of fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified systems at the Blue Origin Orbital Launch Site. * Provide input on cost, schedule and technical requirements to team members * Occasional travel may be necessary Qualifications * Four year aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (or similar discipline) * Understanding of fundamental principles used in design and structural analysis of piping/tubing systems * Understanding of fundamental principles of internal fluid flow analysis used in sizing piping/tubing systems and components * Experience with solid modelling or plant modelling and creation of engineering drawings * Knowledge of standard components, installation and fabrication methods of piping and/or tubing systems (pipe/tube stock, fittings, connections, vessels, valves, regulators, pumps, fasteners, structural members, fitting, welding, etc) * Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired * Advanced Engineering degree or relevant hand-on experience * Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and in-field oversight of construction, testing and/or operations of piping systems * Experience using analysis tools specific to piping (CAEPipe, Bentley AutoPipe, CEASAR,…etc) * Knowledge of oxidizer system design and safe operating practices * Experience with creation of design lifecycle documentation, and configuration control * Knowledge of hydrocarbon and hydrogen rocket fuel systems and safe operating practices * Knowledge of design and safe operations of fuel vent and flare destruction systems * Knowledge of hydraulics systems, components, and operations * Knowledge and experience in the design and operation of rocket launch acoustic suppression water systems * Knowledge of the design of ground based environmental control and life support systems (ECLSS) * Experience with Autocad or Autocad P&ID * Experience with steady-state and transient fluid flow analysis * Experience with structural hand calculations and finite-element analysis software tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.) * Knowledge of precision cleaning processes / levels and passivation of stainless steel Blue Origin offers a phenomenal work environment and awesome culture with competitive compensation, benefits, 401K, and relocation.
