The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center is seeking applicants to fill one or more positions in our Conference Services Department. These positons are wage (hourly) positions with no benefits.

The candidate will work to perform setup/teardown of tables, chairs, staging and other conference equipment. The candidate will prepare and deliver light food items and drinks to the events as needed. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with cleanup of spills as well as cleaning the restrooms, floors as needed, laundry of linens and other building areas as necessary.

Additionally, the candidate may be required to provide basic audio-visual and technical assistance to event clients. This position requires lifting, bending, kneeling and an eye for detail. Must be able to follow specific setup instructions as well as make adjustments when needed or requested by the customer.

In order to determine the setups required, must have computer training to be able to print off the setup directions, service needs, etc. Must also be able to send and reply to emails, etc. Must be customer service oriented.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, and weekends. This posting will fill two (2) positions: W1906 & W3405.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instruction, ability to lift, bend, stoop, and stand or walk for extended periods of time. Must be customer service oriented.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, and weekends Ability to use a computer to review information from scheduling system, check email, and perform basic computer tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in the food service industry or in another customer service type role. Experience in event setup or clean up.

VIEW JOBS 1/6/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-06T00:00 A Family Services Specialist I represents the entry level employees working under close supervision while being trained in program area of Foster Care/Adoption. Employees perform routine entry level casework activities and the casework is usually reviewed by the supervisor prior to implementing case action. A Family Services Specialist II represents the full performance level. Employees are responsible for developing and implementing individualized service plans involving the application of casework methods and basic service level caseloads of Foster Care and Adoption. Employees perform all tasks independently and seek supervisory advice on unusual situations or when policies and procedures require supervisory review or involvement. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area as mandated in Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia and implemented by the Virginia Board of Social Services. If you do not possess a Bachelor's degree, you must receive a Bachelor's Degree within the current semester. Some knowledge of: social work principles and practices; human behavior and motivational theory; and social, economic, and health problems. Skill in operating a motor vehicle and personal computer with associated software. Demonstrated ability to: communicate effectively both orally and in writing; interview, assess needs, counsel and refer clients to other resources as needed; develop and implement service plans in order to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to the client; make sound judgments within the framework of existing laws, policies, and regulations; respond to the client's emotions in order to accomplish services objectives; plan and manage own work activities including service delivery preparing reports, and correspondence, record keeping responsibilities and related activities; establish and maintain effective relationships; and stay abreast of current trends and developments in the social work field. Preferred Qualifications Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable. Previous work experience in legal processes, to include preparing legal documents and providing court testimony. Special Requirements Applicants may be subject to a Criminal History Background search, Central Registry search, DMV/driving record check, and/or pre-employment drug screen. The investigation may include: fingerprint checks (State Police, FBI), local agency checks, employment verification and references, verification of education (relevant to employment), credit checks (relevant to employment) and other checks requested by the hiring authority. All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory results of the required checks and screenings.
