Job Title: Concrete QA/QC Supervisor

Department: Concrete

Reports to: Manager - Concrete

Major Role and Purpose:

  • Supervise the quality of concrete produced, while working in conjunction with plant managers, salespeople, dispatch personnel and mixer drivers.

Description of Duties:

  • Create, maintain and update concrete mixes.

  • Monitor concrete mixes by performing compressive testing on samples.

  • Work in conjunction with aggregate technicians monitoring coarse & fine grade aggregates.

  • Monitor concrete at batch plants for conformity to job specifications.

  • Work with plant managers & drivers to ensure quality concrete is leaving the yards.

  • Perform field testing of plastic mix - slumps, air contents and cast cylinders.

  • Work with contractors and finishers handling questions and any problems that may arise.

  • Prepare and distribute concrete submittals / mix designs to contractors.

  • Verify that plants & dispatch have the most current mix designs.

  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Education:

  • High School Degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 5 years minimum quality assurance experience.
  • ACI Level I and/or Level II and VDOT Certified.

Physical Demands:

  • Job requires the following motions: pushing, pulling, reaching, bending and lifting.

Skills Required:

  • Proficient in computer skills

  • Ability to communicate efficiently and clearly with coworkers and customers.

  • Ability to maneuver a wheelbarrow with a nominal amount of concrete in it.

  • Valid driver's license
