Morgan Corp. is currently searching for Concrete Laborers to work on a RCC project in San Antonio, TX.

This position primarily works with the installation of concrete on Company construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and layout concrete wall forms

  • Install plates, rebar, wire, etc. as necessary

  • Tie, grind, and/or cut rebar/reinforcing steel as needed

  • Pour and finish concrete

  • Perform general construction labor to include jobsite clean-up

  • Complete safety inspection of work area

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of asphalt or concrete experience

  • Must have strong communication skills

  • Must follow safety standards throughout process

  • Able to load and unload materials and distribute them to the appropriate locations

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools including vibratory compactors, cement mixers, air hammers, small hoists, and basic survey equipment

  • Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends as needed

Work Environment:

Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. This position performs strenuous physical activity, for long periods, under varying and adverse field conditions. This position must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs., stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.

May exercise functional supervision over assigned staff. WORK LOCATION: Southwest Service Center, 6927 W. Commerce Essential Job Functions * Directs the pouring of ready-mix concrete and the operation of automatic curb machine. * Hand finishes fresh concrete and plasters and repairs of old concrete. * Repairs old concrete structures using concrete bonding chemicals. * Prepares concrete mixtures for use in automatic curb machine. * Works from blue prints, sketches, or oral and written instructions. * Prepare estimates of project time and materials. * Assists in the building of concrete forms. * Assists in the training of crew members and helpers in the use and operation of equipment. * Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements * High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency). * Three (3) years of experience as a journeyman concrete finisher or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the concrete trade. * Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience in concrete finishing. * Experience building and laying concrete project forms. * Ability to read construction plans, blue prints and drawings. * Experience estimating project costs. Working conditions are primarily outside with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, dust, damp/wet surfaces, high noise, oily surfaces, liquid asphalt and lime. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Knowledge of various types of concrete and its characteristics. * Knowledge of various methods of concrete finishing. * Knowledge of safety procedures as they apply the pouring and finishing of concrete. * Skill in utilizing all tools and equipment of the concrete finishing trade. * Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. * Ability to recognize and decide exactly when to smooth and finish concrete. * Ability to read construction plans. * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public. * Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include heavy lifting and carrying, walking and standing for extended periods of time, bending and stooping, and operating assigned equipment.
