Job Description:
85%- Perform all aspects of concrete form, placement, finish and cleanup work to include, but not be limited to: excavation work (hand work, digging work, direct machine operators to include backhoe, trencher, bobcat, etc) form work (flat work/assist carpenters with more complex form work); placement work (direct pour/pumping/ remote delivery with wheel barrow or mechanized assist); finish work (screeding/floating/broom finish/steel trowel finish/exposed aggregate finish/colored finish); clean up (breaking forms/sack rub finishing/skim coating/backfilling/debris removal).
10%- Operate specialized equipment to remove existing concrete and to reinforce concrete in preparation for placement to include, but not limited to self-propelled concrete cutting machine, hand operated concrete saw, concrete drill, jack hammers of all types and sizes including small electric and large backhoe mounted, large industrial air compressor.
5%- Perform other related duties as required.


One year of experience in the concrete finishing trade.


Training in the concrete finishing trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.


Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.

In accordance with the University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.

Ability to work in all weather conditions. Ability to lift 501bs, reach, stoop, kneel, and bend for extended periods.


Valid Class E Driver's License

To provide guidance in form construction, mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete to provide or expand surfaces for a variety of construction and maintenance requirements.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from those of Apprentice by the performance of journeyman level concrete finishing work and from Concrete Finisher Master and foreman jobs by the lack of the required supervisory duties.

Examples of Work

Mixes concrete using the proper proportion of gravel, sand, and cement.

Works with carpenters to insure that the wooden forms used to hold the concrete are set for the desired slope and depth and are properly aligned.

Pours concrete and uses hand trowel, level, float, and other concrete finishing tools to obtain finished cement surfaces as required.

Pours and finishes sidewalks, floors, foundations, and other concrete surfaces.

Repairs cracks and holes in sidewalks and streets.

Keeps records of time, supplies, and work.

Directs and trains assigned helpers and Apprentices.

Supervises work of subordinate helpers as assigned.

As a Construction Forensic Investigator you will be accountable for investigating structural failures and assessing the condition of structures and developing repair recommendations.
