What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Computing Infrastructure Engineer to interact with multiple technical areas across IT with a solid understanding of full lifecycle management (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration and maintenance) of multi-user information systems including servers, storage, virtual and cloud infrastructures, and associated components and subsystems.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Maintain the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security.
Evolve existing application infrastructure, promote continuous integration and delivery, and be a champion for automation.
Collaborate with high performing teams in close coordination with internal and external partners to build, test, fix, deploy, and integrate new features and functionality.
Support system-level performance characterization, requirements verification, and system performance reporting through engineering and test activities.
Mentor and guide teammates and promote innovative ideas and out-of-the-box thinking.
Perform trouble resolution activities.
Coordinate customer request issues with Sysadmins, backup, networking and storage for resolution
Update technical documents.
Qualifications We Require
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Assurance or relevant field
plus, a minimum of three (3) or more years of related experience leading complex projects and supporting service management processes/practices or; equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with Python and Ansible Tower
Automation, orchestration, continuous integration/continuous delivery experience using Ansible, Docker, and GitLab
Container technologies experience using Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
Experience in architecting complete computer solutions, system design, engineering, and system development, including familiarity with modern DevOps practices and tools
Experience reading, interpreting, writing, modifying, and executing scripts (e.g., Python) on Windows or Unix systems
Experienced with IT Service Desk requests
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
Qualifications We Desire
Familiar with Enterprise Automation Platform
Experience loading all drivers and software for custom Sandia usage
GitLab at Sandia for custom code experience
Previous experience working with NT Systems Team on new Windows Build Script rollouts
Experience collaborating with Networking teams on new VLAN design and implementation
Experience with Linux server-based system administration. (e.g., account maintenance, data backups, system performance maintenance, installation and configuration of new hardware/software)

Position Information
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.

Security Clearance
