What we do:

Zebra Technologies' Chief Technology Office is an intrapreneurial team creating innovative solutions for the transportation & logistics, warehouse, retail, and healthcare markets. These "first of a kind" solutions are helping retail managers improve their store operations & better serve their customers and are helping T&L managers enhance the efficiency of their loading operations.

The CTO's Solution Incubation Team focuses on advanced development and application of emerging edge sensing, artificial intelligence, and workflow optimization technologies in innovative end-to-end system prototypes to solve real-world problems and advance these systems into new businesses. We are currently hiring for our artificial intelligence group, whose expertise includes machine learning, computer vision, image analysis, natural language processing, embedded systems, and cloud computing.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

Working with members of our team, you will contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge prototype solutions for the T&L industry, by developing embedded hardware and software for computer vision systems. This includes:

  • Creative problem solving based on customer visits and requirements gathering;

  • Developing embedded software for devices that capture and analyze data from 3D sensors, imagers, and other sensors;

  • Designing client/server systems for back-end processing and visualization of data;

  • Generating patent disclosures covering the system solutions and the underlying methods;

  • Presenting results and demonstrations at internal and customer meetings.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in C, C++ programming languages is required.

  • Mastery of at least one scripting language such as Python.

  • Development experience on Linux embedded platforms and single board computers.

  • Excellent debugging skills.

  • Enjoys rolling up sleeves and getting hands dirty (utilizing tools to get your job done).

  • Strong teamwork, communication skills, passion, creativity, productivity & learning agility.

  • Strong documentation and writing skills.

  • Experience with board-level hardware design, layout, build, and testing is a plus.

  • Experience with computer vision and augmented reality is a plus.

  • Experience with GPU programming and computer graphics libraries is a plus.

  • Experience with the Point Cloud Library, OpenCV, OpenNI and 3D depth sensors is a plus.

Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Responsibilities * Establishes requirements for moderately complex system design projects. Prioritizes features to insure the most important get implemented. * Participates in code reviews and identifies bad sections early in the process and then recodes them. * Completes all phases of moderately complex system design projects. Carries out all in-process and final inspection activities. * Develops and tests documentation for the projects. * Considers latest technologies and new approaches to designs and implementation of new designs. * Reviews changes or upgrades to existing software and / or firmware designs.
