A well-known electronics company has created a Research and Development center to focus on technologies related to autonomous driving, mobility, and IoT. Because the team is small and fairly new, youll have the feel of working for startup with the backing of a multi-billion-dollar company.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing state-of-the-art localization and mapping algorithms that will combine sensor data to help autonomous vehicles localize in uncertain environments and give the vehicle advanced perception.
Required Skills & Experience

PhD or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience working with visual odometry, visual SLAM and 3D reconstruction
Proven research and development expertise in vision-based localization and mapping
At least 3 years of experience developing real-time computer vision software in C++, including algorithm design and systems software development
Experience with open-source libraries (i.e. OpenCV, Eigen, ROS, CERES)
Experience with software engineering tools and Linux environment
Desired Skills & Experience

Experience with CPU/GPU optimization
Knowledge of Linux
Experience with real-time sensor fusion (i.e. IMU, Lidar, camera, odometry, radar)
Proven publication track record the field of SLAM, multi-view geometry and 3D reconstruction
Experience writing production code

Daily Responsibilities
80% Hands-on developing high-quality software designs
20% Collaboration with other teams in the group to develop a tightly integrated data processing pipeline

We have an opening at our Innovation Center in San Jose, CA in the Autonomous Driving team.<br></p><p><br></p><p>As a Research Engineer, you will utilize your expertise in the field of robotics, computer vision, deep learning and AI to some of the most challenging problems in automated driving. Working at SAIC Innovation Center, you will innovate with engineers at the top of their fields in motion control and machine learning. You will be creating new technologies through algorithm and software development that integrates your expertise in 3D computer vision to build a map using multiple sensors such as stereo cameras and Lidar sensors.
