Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EXAMPLES OF DUTIESESSENTIAL DUTIESPerforms office functions such as filing, organizing and arranging records, reports and other written materials; types correspondence and reports from handwritten copy; operates standard office machines to include micro-computer; maintains operation of an office during Administrator's temporary absence; receives and screens incoming telephone calls; answers routine questions or directs the caller to the proper person; maintains calendars and appointment records for administrators and staff; independently prepares routine reports and summaries for members of the administration; orders and distributes office supplies; compiles and posts statistical data such as attendance records; composes and prepares routine memorandum from general instructions; takes dictation and meeting notes and transcribes into written form; records minutes of meetings; carries out special tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor and complies with Monterey County Office of Education Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.In addition to the above, any Secretary I serving as a school secretary shall perform all the duties normally associated with serving in that position, e.g.-maintains records and files such as student files and emergency cards; sets up IEP/ITP meetings; prepares requisitions for purchase orders, work orders and travel reimbursements; distributes mail; performs secretarial duties for teachers; relates to children who come to the office for assistance - assists in administering First Aid; coordinates/monitors student transportation; monitors/participates in student lunch program; oversees special school events.OTHER DUTIESMakes meeting and travel arrangements and reservations; administers and accounts for petty cash funds; sets up and coordinates fund raisers and performs other job-related tasks as required.School Secretary - Acts as a community occupational liaison.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CHARACTERISTICSPhysical, mental and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position; manual dexterity sufficient to write, use telephone, business machines; vision sufficient to read printed materials; hearing sufficient to conduct in person and telephone conversations; speaking ability in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversational distance, and on the telephone; physical agility to push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop and to reach overhead; and to climb and run; physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment (office, district) and respond to emergency situations; physical strength sufficient to lift 25 pounds items and a 40-lb. child in an emergency situation; physical stamina sufficient to sit for prolonged periods to time; mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience•Combination of education, training and experience equivalent to one year secretarial/clerical experience.
