The Student Affairs Information Technology Department invites applications for a Computer Systems Analyst II Position. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Client Experience with matrix reporting to the Web Technology Manager. Assessing business needs, recommending application of existing systems, and working with other technicians to conduct software development, testing, and management of specialized 3rd party and custom built applications to meet the various business needs of departments and offices of UM. Such systems may be various business management systems such as StarRez, EMS, Medicat, CBord, mobile platforms, such as CampusM, custom-built systems such as UApprove, and others. This position assists with the analysis, design, implementation and daily operations of said systems and specifically their integrations with other campus systems, such as the ERP (Banner).
This position requires incumbent to develop the ability to perform extract, transform, and load (ETL) operations against custom and 3rd party systems, and gather a thorough understanding of state and federal regulations including HIPAA, FERPA, and other regulatory standards, such as PCI DSS.
Specific Expectations:
Provide client-facing support for administrators and primary users of specialized 3rd party systems throughout the division of Student Affairs including reporting, data flow, automation and solution engineering
Build reports and assess business processes and practices of SAIT, IT, and of departments where technology assists in running day-to-day operational systems
Serve as a liaison between end-users and appropriate support personnel in SAIT and IT, with vendors, and with other campus professionals, to advise on technology issues as they arise.
Self-educate to improve knowledge of the technology, systems, procedures, and policies in order to provide excellent support
Develop, maintain and support web-based software systems for the University under the direction of the Web Technology Manager
Complete technical projects by performing as a project leader and manager, technician, and team member with role depending on task. Utilize campus resources to solve problems and answer questions and refer problems to appropriate contacts
Primary duties include:
Establish excellent rapport with numerous on and off campus colleagues to improve technical insights, deliver proper end-user training, and provide effective departmental support through training and assistance of student staff
Advise the Director of SAIT, the Executive Director of Client Experience, and the Executive Director of Enterprise Technologies, and appropriate supported departmental personnel on optimal business practices and technical solutions to automate and streamline work flow, including automation of manually generated reports
Serve as lead when providing integration support for data transition between disparate systems
Maintain regular hours and participate in required meetings as assigned
Utilize strong listening and communication skills enabling effective development as a team member
Communicate technical details effectively with users in person, over the phone, and in writing
Responsible for managing multiple projects and applying advanced systems analysis and project management tools and techniques
Perform functional testing to minimize errors in production code of jobs or integrations
Develop, support, maintain web-based software using a variety of technical stacks, including (but not limited to) PHP, Java, .Net, JavaScript, HTML, CSS while maintaining University standards
Provide direct support to end users of supported applications, including the use of ticketing systems, phone and in-person support channels
Perform and manage software releases and deployments to containerized environments, dedicated servers, etc.
Protect user data by implementing appropriate security controls
Required Skills
Ability to use standard office and technical tools, such as: Microsoft Office Suite; Network shares; Command line and console interaction; Remote Desktop Connection and other remote computing tools
Communicate technical details effectively with lay users in person, over the phone, and in writing
Comfort contacting and working with vendor support for a variety of applications
Research skills to gather, analyze and organize information to generate meaningful solutions to complex problems
Ability to understand clients' requirements and goals and translate those into functional business solutions
Familiarity with reading and interpreting vendor documentation
Familiarity with scripting for scheduled jobs or one-time tasks, also to create or improve data logging and analysis
Demonstrated ability to program with a variety of object-oriented languages, including (but not limited to) PHP, Java and .NET
Ability to program with client-side technology, such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Familiarity with database structure and adhoc SQL queries
Familiarity with data reporting tools, such as Tableau
Ability to fully and effectively document applications and solutions
Application administration experience
Data management and analysis skills
Ability to test software for accuracy and compliance to specifications
Demonstrated ability to self-organize and manage work time and multiple priorities
Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in client needs as well as policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot end-user issues as well as back-end systems
Demonstrated capacity to rapidly learn and implement new technologies
Ability to develop software that is compliant with university policies on digital accessibility
Familiarity with version control for source code or scripts using Git
Minimum Required Experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience training users on designed and/or implemented solutions, practices, and/or policies
Experience working with IT, specifically in Higher Education
Experience as an escalation point above base-level tech support
Familiarity with Powershell scripting
Ability to manage SQL databases
Familiarity with Access databases
CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Project+

Position Title: Computer Systems Analyst II
Position Number: NEW

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year
Salary: $22.84/hr Current employee's rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department.
