This is a TEMPORARY/HOURLY, PART-TIME position. It begins Upon Hire and is expected to run through November of 2019.

The School of Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Computer Support Technician 2 for their Social Development Research Group. The position is responsible for providing troubleshooting, assistance and support for the Social Development Research Group staff for all computing issues/problems including, but not limited to, PC hardware, software, OS, printers, desktop and tablets.

Responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems; take corrective action.

  • Design, configure, and test hardware and software.

  • Assign, set up, distribute, and maintain logon accounts for users.

  • Develop standards and guidelines to guide the support, maintenance, and use of

hardware and software.

  • Monitor systems performance; determine needed adjustments, recommend

changes/improvements for the future.

  • Maintain proper inventory and control records of computers/software.

  • Provide technical assistance to end-user staff.

  • Work effectively under pressure and with frequent interruptions.

  • Complete work and projects in a thorough and timely manner.

  • Perform other assignments, as needed.

Hardware Support

  • Service, repair, or replace computer equipment and printers needing repair.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and document computer systems, software and

peripheral equipment located throughout the organization.

  • Prepare new equipment arrivals with standard software image.

  • Deploy new equipment and test system functionality.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of hardware and service records.

  • Provide telephone systems support, as needed.

Software Support

  • Work with end users to resolve general software problems.

  • Provide user administration, and basic network support and troubleshooting.

  • Provide general internet support for client software.

  • Ensure software licensing records are accurate and alert management regarding

licensing requirements.

Required

One year of experience as a Computer Support Technician I

OR

Equivalent education/experience.

  • Expertise with MS Office, and other software application setups, upgrades and

troubleshooting.

  • Ability to install, upgrade and/or configure desktop computers primarily in a

Windows operating system environment.

  • Experience with printer support and maintenance

  • Superior customer service skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have working knowledge of imaging, setup, repair and configuration of Dell,

Apple, and Microsoft related hardware.

  • Demonstrated capabilities in teamwork, communication, and documentation.

DESIRED

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.

  • 2-5+ years of Windows Desktop/Laptop support in a professional enterprise

environment.

  • Experience with Active Directory Administration.

  • Experience working with incident tracking/ticketing systems.

  • Experience working with IBM SPSS Data Collection\Dimensions.

  • An A+, MCP, and/or MCDST certification strongly desired.

The Department of Surgery currently has an outstanding opportunity for a SCIENTIFIC INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNICIAN 2. The WISH HMC Site Lead for the WISH program is responsible for performing laboratory related work under general supervision in support of the WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare (WISH). This position reports to the WISH Lab Director with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Administrator and Executive Director of WISH. WISH is a multi-disciplinary School of Medicine initiative and exists to provide cognitive and skills training and assessment for residents, medical students, faculty, and the larger medical community. This position coordinates lab activities/courses/simulations that occur at the HMC site and acts as the HMC Site Lead. While the Site Lead does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the position will lead site operational activities including directing assigned personnel in simulations including Scientific Instructional Technician I, Lab Technician I, volunteers, and hourly students. Under general supervision by the Lab Director, this position performs key simulation lab duties, including: * Simulation curriculum development and conducting simulation exercises. * Maintenance and repair simulators; * Lead and direct the work of other, more junior personnel in the simulation lab before, during and after simulation exercises. * Participate in various simulation-related research projects by collecting, reducing and tabulating data. * Manage equipment inventory -Independently review the equipment and supply needs for both simulations and assigned research projects and arrange for their purchase/procurement. This individual must be dedicated to superior service to internal and external customers and must have the full confidence and trust of WISH faculty, WISH Directors and the Administrator in his/her role as the primary simulation resource for customers. The major aspects of this position fall into the following three categories: * Operating/assisting with WISH simulations including cadaveric courses (60%) * Curriculum Development & Data Management (20%) * Outreach and Event Coordination (20%) Position Responsibilities: I. Operating/assisting with WISH simulations: 60% A significant portion of the WISH program is its teaching mission. The expanding program reaches across the WWAMI region to train residents, medical students, allied health professionals and practicing physicians. The individual in this position must accurately and in a timely manner, organize all course and simulation related educational efforts of WISH. Specific responsibilities include: * Lead role in coordinating the operational needs of the lab such as guiding lab technicians in the preparation for training sessions, including the timely, accurate and complete set up and take down of equipment/labs for WISH classes * Interface with all involved parties of a simulation course including leadership, faculty, learners, vendors, and staff in a professional manner to ensure a successful outcome * Lead and direct assigned personnel in simulations including Scientific Instructional Technician I, Lab Technician I, volunteers, and hourly students * General maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, including fixing minor problems or arranging for service as needed;Provides technical troubleshooting when possible * Conduction of Simulation Labs:?Set up and calibration of laboratory apparatus and instruments * Set up and take-down human patient simulators and other equipment * Conduct simulation exercises * Set up lab areas and equipment for cadaveric courses * Assist in preparation and some procedures involving biological tissues * Assisting instructors with laboratory operations and with curriculum development, including practicing scenarios prior to a formal course * Provide trainees with curriculum and equipment overview * Guide trainees in starting simulation exercises; and on-going guidance to trainees during simulation exercises as needed * Manage the extensive and expensive inventory; assuring appropriate stock of lab supplies; ensure independent course stations are stocked, maintained, and in good working order II. Simulation activities must be validated and new simulators created, trialed and implemented. Curriculum must also be trialed and implemented. The individual in this position must accurately and in a timely manner, schedule courses, assist with curriculum development and assist with database management. Specific responsibilities include: * Participating as active, contributing member of the WISH Research and Development team * Working with the team to plan research projects; using appropriate research and project management techniques to carry out designated parts of research * Assisting with all aspects of assigned research proposals and projects, including: Grant proposal development IRB Applications Defining research problems and protocols Data collection Data analysis Literature reviews Research publications and manuscript production * Collaborating with outside vendors on research projects * Participating in professional and educational activities that enhance current knowledge base III. Outreach and Event Operations: 20% The Dean of the School of Medicine has made WISH a central School of Medicine focus. Because of its high profile WISH has a myriad of development activities and events. WISH also provides outreach for a range of different aged children (5th grade to high school) by conducting tours on at least a monthly basis. This position is pivotal in assuring that the activities and events (on and off campus) run smoothly and are well delivered. Specific responsibilities include: * Outreach and event facilitation, such as tours in WISH for community leaders and school groups * Set up and conduct tours with various internal and external customers * Within the scope of the position, liaise with sales representatives, manufacturers and other simulation centers * Provide logistics (e.g.,set up conference room as required for each event) * Collaborating with outside vendors on research projects * Participating in professional and educational activities that enhance current knowledge base Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree with major study in a basic applied science and two years of full-time experience as a Scientific Instructional Technician or equivalent OR equivalent education/experience Desired Qualifications: * Experience serving in a lead capacity * Experience in a simulation lab or lab setting highly preferred * Knowledge of medical terminology and medical processes a plus * Experience working with cadavers * Experience managing databases a plus * Minimum of 6 months experience in a simulation environment.
