Position Purpose:

One position available for a Computer Support Specialist or Senior Computer Support Specialist, depending on qualifications.

Computer Support Specialist provides a wide variety of computer, client, and network support to ensure effective installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software. Duties include diagnosing and solving problems on workstation and related devices; providing network technical support; providing help desk support; installing, researching, evaluating, resolving, and documenting computer and network related issues.

Position requires an understanding of a variety of network components and the intricacies of diverse software products supported. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Limited travel and a valid driver's license are required.

Senior Computer Support Specialist provides advanced computer and network support activities and directs projects to ensure computer networks and clients' computers are functional, performing efficiently, and that data is being safeguarded. Possesses an in-depth understanding of hardware and software support and a proficient understanding of LAN administration and resolution of network operating problems, and researches and resolves non-documented hardware, software, and LAN problems.

Duties include installing, researching, evaluating, resolving and documenting computer and network related issues; setting up, installing, configuring and supporting network servers; evaluating and configuring new workstation OS and associated applications. Knowledge of design, installation, compatibility, connectivity, and operating system principles. Ability to plan and implement projects. Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is required for employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Computer Support Specialist applicants should have an associate degree from an accredited university, college, or technical school in computer science, computer networking, computer security, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Senior Computer Support Specialist applicants should have an associate degree from an accredited university, college, or technical school in computer science, computer networking, computer security, or related field and two (2) years of experience maintaining computer workstations, providing help desk support, and supporting computer networks, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
