Job Summary:

Position Details:

Provide hardware and software support for PCs and Macs to OSU Extension personnel in district, area and county offices across the State of Oklahoma. Technical support is provided through remote diagnostics, telephone support, electronic mail, and on-site visits. Develop and implement a learner-based training program related to Information Technology (IT) efforts and issues for OSU Extension district personnel, area specialists, and county staff. Travel is required.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required: High School/GED

Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience OR

High school and six years related experience with requirement to receive bachelor's degree within six years of hire

  • Valid drivers' license.

  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills;

  • Provide timely and accurate responses to hardware/software questions and concerns; ability to learn and adapt quickly.

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

  • Must be able to travel for extended periods of time.

  • Must be responsible for reaching remote locations to accomplish duty assignments.

  • Support-level skills in Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11 and Apple OSX computer and printer hardware, client-based networking software (TCP/IP) and Internet software (browsers and E-mail); support multimedia equipment in Extension offices, conference rooms and meeting spaces.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of team.

  • Travel to the county/area/district office is considered part of the technical support.

  • Demonstrates effective use of technology with staff and administration.

  • Demonstrates effective interaction and leadership among staff and administration.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of learning styles.

  • Demonstrates facilitation skills with large groups, small groups and individual staff.

  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively.

Preferred: Bachelor's in a computer related field

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience OR

  • High school and eight years related experience and demonstrated progress toward bachelor's degree

  • Working knowledge of setting up and maintaining computer systems and servers including configuration

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
