Job Summary

The Computer Support Specialist II serves as the second-tier support for all PC and MAC related problems for faculty, staff, and students may encounter. This includes but not limited to hardware and software problems to PC/MAC systems. In addition, the Computer Support Specialist II provides computer support in a timely fashion through Helpdesk requests and by servicing emergency calls. They also help to maintain the functionality of on-campus computer labs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides computer support to faculty and staff service desk requests in a timely manner

  • Assist maintaining functionality of the computer labs equipment

  • Diagnose hardware and software problems

  • Install software on computers

  • Handles emergency and non-emergency calls

  • Stays current with technological advances that may impact the scope of the position

  • Install software on computers

  • End-user technical support by face-to-face, through the phone, or by email

  • Troubleshoot varying types of data/end-user issues

  • Performs installation and upgrades of software applications

  • Assist the setting up audio-visual equipment as requested by faculty or staff

  • Provides after hours support as needed

  • Works extended or alternate shifts and needed

  • Interacts with vendors, faculty, staff, and students to carry out the objectives of the position

  • May be required to perform job related duties other than those specifically delineated in this position

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in information technology, computer science or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in hardware/software troubleshooting and repair; or High School Diploma/GED and seven (7) years of experience in hardware/software troubleshooting and repair

  • Ability to lift, move, or carry 25 pounds or more

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or a closely related field preferred
