FUNCTION: The Computer Science/ Information Technology & Game Design Instructor works directly under the Principal (WHS) and the Director of the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center to provide for each secondary student opportunities to explore the field of information technology and game design; to motivate secondary students to build a foundation of the skills, attitudes, and knowledge relevant to Computer Science/Information Technology & Game Design through experiential learning using Project Lead The Way as a base curriculum.; and to encourage secondary students to develop a career portfolio that reflects the work readiness skills and personal characteristics conducive for success in college and career pathways within this Program of Study.

DUTIES: 1.Instructs secondary students in high-level computer languages and programming, including game design. 2.Instructs students in the use of PD hardware, repair, and networking operations. 3.Instructs students in the use of software specific to Project Lead The Way and URO's CS4RI's curriculum. 4.Must remain current through ongoing professional development (required PLTW) and URI's CS4RI curriculum as well independent study in the area of emerging technologies, such as 'Mobile App' development. 5.Prepares and updates curriculum and provides students with a syllabus at the beginning of the school year. 6.Develops, maintains and updates articulation agreements and dual enrollment courses with post-secondary institutions. 7.Recruits Advisory Board members and maintains an active Advisory Board. 8.Communicates with businesses and post-secondary institutions to plan and implement site visits. 9.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive, and safe learning environment. 10.Instructs students in the importance and significance of accuracy, safety, job-related responsibilities, resourcefulness and good work habits in obtaining and retaining employment. 11.Assesses and evaluates each student's performance, knowledge and skills; record grades and enter them on the Portal system, prepare progress reports, and provide employment and college references for students as needed. 12.Communicates with employers, parents and school counselors on student progress. 13.Evaluates, selects, and requisitions books, instructional materials, equipment and supplies and maintains required inventory records. 14.Provides individual and group instruction appropriate to the needs of the student(s) and the requirements of the activities being performed. 15.Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school department and/or self- selected professional development activities. 16.Performs other general related tasks as may be assigned by the Director/Principal. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Associates Degree, preferably a Bachelor's degree 2.

At least 3-5 years' experience in the filed of information technology 3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in programming in high-level computer languages, PC Hardware repair and networking operations. 4.
