Faculty/Educational Administrators:

Bakersfield College is seeking dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise in continuing to move the program forward in innovative ways. As a full time faculty member at Bakersfield College, successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of Computer Science courses.

This assignment may include teaching courses at various locations, different times, and with different modalities. Bakersfield College offers college courses in the greater Bakersfield area, rural communities, correctional facilities and high schools using the following modalities: traditional, face-to-face, hybrid, online and interactive broadcasts.

Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation, transfer programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and technology; assessment of learning outcomes; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.

Education and Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Master's in computer science or computer

engineering

OR

Bachelor's in either of the above

AND

Master's in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering

OR

Bachelor's in engineering

AND

Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration

OR

Bachelor's in mathematics

AND

Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration

OR

Bachelor's degree in any of the above

AND

A master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems

(NOTE: Courses in the use of computer programs for application to a particular discipline may be classified

for minimum qualifications purposes, under the discipline of the application.)

OR - The equivalent.

Teaching faculty are responsible for providing a full professional week which includes but is not limited to 15 units of physical science classes. This position will be located at the Cerro Coso Community College East Kern Center, which serves the communities of Edwards Air Force Base and Tehachapi and, in partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the two correctional facilities at California City and Tehachapi. Other duties include holding office hours, maintaining subject matter currency, using computer and multimedia technology for increased student engagement, attending department and college meetings, and participating in institutional activities. Examples of institutional activities are assisting with student outreach and recruitment; participating in articulation events with high schools and four-year schools as appropriate; developing and maintaining community connections; working with department and division colleagues to address student equity gaps; developing and revising curriculum; defining, assessing, and analyzing student learning outcomes; collegially participating in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.
