Position Overview

The Computer Operator II is responsible for monitoring all computer operations system jobs and ensuring the updates, files, and electronic transactions are processed accurately and timely for all core banking modules and 3rd parties for the appropriate shift. This includes monitoring scheduled incoming and outgoing files, addressing all error messages displayed on the operator's terminal, via email, or through automation tools, escalating issues to their supervisor and\or on-call personnel or to the core banking vendor, and communicating issues and workflow processes between shifts.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Monitor IBM system jobs, daily and nightly updates, and routine processes to ensure end of job completion

  • Immediately identify problems or errors to ensure quick resolution by correcting problems or notifying supervisor, on call personnel, or vendor support

  • Researches similar past incidents in the ticketing system to enable easier troubleshooting for current issues and escalate as necessary

  • Initiate and monitor tasks/updates on the IBM iSeries using Opcon automation tools

  • Identifies process improvements for shift and makes recommendations to management

  • Develops and implements new processes and procedures when necessary

  • Monitor timely transmission and reception of scheduled files to and from various sources/vendors using

  • MoveIt automation tool

  • Monitor for Online Banking error messages and respond timely

  • Process, archive, and distribute notices and reports

  • Respond to basic and intermediate Service Desk requests

  • Maintain Data Center daily activity logs including tracking work being performed

  • Process, manage, and validate core banking system and 3rd party processes for archiving into the documents storage system, Director

  • Assists with communication for application disruptions when necessary

  • Provides documentation for regulatory audits

  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary

  • Perform related duties as assigned

  • Prepares backup tape logs as needed

Swing Shift

  • Receive, perform reject re-entry, and balance the banks X9.37 Image files from various sources

  • Works with department and branch staff to resolve check processing issues

  • Perform system backups tapes as needed

  • Prepares backup tape logs as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • AA degree in Computer Science or related experience 4 years Computer Operator or related experience

  • Excellent Analytical skills

  • Strong ability to work independently, follow written and verbal procedures, and meet deadlines

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

  • Rigorous attention to detail and application of standards and process

  • 2 years banking experience

  • Knowledge of Fiserv Premier (ITI) software

  • Proficient using the Microsoft Suite

  • IBM iSeries Mainframe experience

  • Use of automation tools
