Purpose of Position:
The Computer Information Technology (CIT) Instructor is responsible for teaching a range of computer and programming courses to students enrolled in the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree program at Little Priest Tribal College. The ideal candidate should possess strong programming skills, particularly in languages such as C, C++, Java, HTML, Python, and SQL Server. Additionally, expertise in networking, operating systems, web design, cybersecurity and related areas are required.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in CIT, ensuring alignment with program objectives and industry standards.
Design engaging lectures and course materials covering topics such as programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, web development, and database management concepts.
Provide hands-on programming experience to students, guiding them through coding exercises, projects, and assignments in languages like C, C++, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and SQL.
Teach the fundamental concepts related to networking, operating systems, and other relevant computer science topics.
Contributes to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and building of hardware and software necessary for the successful deployment of all Cybersecurity courses
Advise students, providing guidance on course selection, career pathways, and internship opportunities.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress, and ensure timely submission of reports and evaluations.
Collaborate with Vice President of Teaching & Learning to ensure curriculum alignment, course scheduling, program assessment and student support services.
Develop and implement Program Level Assessment (PLA) for the CIT program
Complete Program Review of the CIT program
Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality program.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours. A doctorate degree is preferred but not required. Bachelor's degree with significant corporate or field experience might be considered.[MP1]
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in computer science or a related field at the college or university level is preferred.
Solid understanding of networking concepts, operating systems, database management systems and cybersecurity.
Proficiency in working with various operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Linux environments.
Skilled in the use of industry-standard technologies like GIT, HTML, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python and SQL. Experience with one of the latest firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet)
Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) preferably Canvas.
Travel:
Occasional travel is required.
Condition of Employment:
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background screen.
Must be able to pass a drug screening.
Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.
