COMPUTER EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST III (FTEUS-18-1621-F):

Bowhead seeks a Computer Equipment Specialist (CES), to join our team at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Detachment Norfolk (NSWCCDDN) located at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

As the Computer Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for prioritizing workload from various sources based on the Remedy Action Request System (RARS) utilized by managers, team leads, or the on-call IT Service Desk.

  • Creates tickets within RARS and escalates them how and when necessary.

  • Uses the C4IM Services List and understands the difference between baseline services, above baseline services and mission support services pertaining to the NSWCCDDN and other tenant organizations.

  • Installs, configures, and troubleshoots government furnished equipment and has knowledge of various equipment (laptops, desktops, blackberries, switches, routers, computer peripherals, printers and servers).

  • Images computers on a daily basis, adds printers and computers to the network, and updates computers to comply with Information Assurance Vulnerability Assessments based on the results of Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) vulnerability scanning.

Requirements Associates degree and two-four (2-4) years of experience supporting and/or troubleshooting at the Tier II and/or III level. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Experience installing networks, exercising network security to include determining network security requirements, establishing security protocols and procedures, and maintaining the network at the prescribed level of security.

  • Extensive knowledge in government off the shelf (GOTS) and commercial off the shelf (COTS) software; Active Directory, MS Office Suite, Citrix, Java and Adobe Suite also highly desired.

  • Security+CE certification; OS 6 months from Appointment (Skillport WIN10 training a plus).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must currently hold an active security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Position Summary Maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Program and HCT business standards. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of complex biomedical equipment. Essential Functions Leadership * Serves as a resource and provides technical guidance, mentoring, and assistance to other employees in the department. * Conducts departmental rounds throughout the medical facility and provides consistent feedback to user departments on the status of repairs and other maintenance activities * Demonstrates exceptional customer service, while interacting effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community. * Conducts cross training in the techniques of testing, calibrating, operating and troubleshooting biomedical systems for less experienced BMET's. * Serves as a reference source for clinical engineering and clinical staff with regards to appropriate procedures for the operation and maintenance of clinical equipment. * Works with sales and service representatives of biomedical equipment. * Serves as a member or advisor to the hospital's Risk Management, EOC (Environment of Care) and/or other appropriate committees, as needed. * Services as project leader for small technical projects within the hospital. * Leads conversations with the client dealing with escalated service events. Service * Performs assigned duties in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and other established policies and procedures, including scheduled maintenance, equipment inspection, repairs, adjustments, calibrations and safety testing of more complex classes of biomedical equipment, including ventilators and anesthesia. * Assists with the administrative responsibilities of the department, including work order control, maintenance history records, SM and safety inspection requests and repair parts inventory records. * Possesses knowledge of electrical safety theory, and performs repairs and electrical safety testing on biomedical instrumentation. * Provides strong verbal/written communications consistent with assigned tasks. * Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature. * Assists in the evaluation of new equipment, accessories and supplies, and orders parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of biomedical equipment. * Uses office automation hardware, software and diagnostic service software appropriate to the equipment being serviced. * Investigates safety issues, hazards and equipment incidents. Equipment * Should have a working knowledge of more complex general biomedical safety equipment, such as a spectrum analyzer, patient simulator, and lung simulator. Travel & Other Requirements * Valid Driver's License may be required. * Up to 30% of day-to-day work may be spent traveling. * May be required to work flexible hours, including on-call and overtime.
