Job Description:

Our client, a prominent labor organization (the "Union") in San Diego, CA, is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Comptroller. The Comptroller will report to the top officer of the Union and will be heavily involved with day to day operations of Union financial affairs and accounting-related activities.

Responsibilities:

  • In charge of all aspects of financial management disciplines, including accounting, payroll, financial and regulatory reporting, banking relations, investment management, insurance and financial systems.

  • Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives.

  • Maintain strong relationships with Union officers and employees to identify their needs and provide business solutions.

  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance.

  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, MBA and/or CPA desired.

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years in a senior financial position preferably in a medium to large professional services environment.

  • Must have high level of written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage and communicate well at all levels of the Union and with staff at all locations.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications and MAS90.
