Job Summary

Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Examiner coordinates student intake, assessment, scheduling and data management for Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English Language Learners (ELL) joining Workforce programs at CCRI.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.

  • Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.

Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Assessment / Data Management

  • Serve as an examiner for Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Assessment on CCRI campuses

  • Keep detailed and organized records of exam and assessment records in accordance with federal and state law using paper and digital methods

  • Maintain certifications in and knowledge of CASAS Assessment options.

  • Ensure security, integrity and confidentiality of data

  • Monitor and keep inventory of CASAS assessment supplies & keep assessment tools neat, tidy and in accordance with test provider standards

  • Other job-related duties as required.

Student Support

  • Support intake of candidates seeking Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) assessment using telephone, email etc.

  • Help the public understand the steps needed to complete the CASAS assessment process and support resolution of problems related to CASAS assessment.

  • Connect students with appropriate program staff after assessment.

  • Maintain a professional environment characterized by respect and equal opportunity for all students regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, language, gender, religion, economic status, disability or sexual orientation.

Teamwork and Communication Skills

  • Collaborate with Director and program staff to deliver and publicize monthly testing schedule.

Technology:

  • Monitor communications from CASAS Assessment provider to maintain test site operations

  • Collaborate with information technology staff, Rhode Island Society of Technology Educators (RISTE) staff, and CCRI adult education staff to maintain functionality of test delivery system on shared Chrome books.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Associate's degree required.

  • Proficiency in technology, Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, primarily), Google G-Suite and email required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standardized assessment and college and/or career readiness curricula for adult students is required.

  • Experience working in an educational setting is required.

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral required.

Competencies

  • Experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds to engage in education (through college counseling, academic advising or equivalent) is preferred.

  • An understanding of ADA accommodations preferred.

  • Intermediate level second language (Spanish or other locally spoken language) preferred.

  • Experience with assessment and documentation in paper and on digital platforms (CASAS or similar) preferred.

  • Knowledge of workforce education in Rhode Island preferred.

Reports To Director of Adult Education and Literacy Services Campus Location Primarily located at the Providence Campus Full-time/Part-time Part-Time Shift, Days, and Additional Work Schedule Information Non-standard part time (12-18 hours per week) (regular evening and weekend work will be required) Work Schedule Calendar Benefits No Salary/Hourly Rate $21.93 / hour Additional Salary Information Licenses, Tools and Equipment

  • Various office equipment which may include computers, typewriters, telephones, copy and fax machines, calculators, etc.

  • Must have access to and use of own transportation.

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
