Performs composite lay-up fabrication of parts and tools of various types for aerospace composite parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs the kitting, lay-up, bagging curing, and final assembly of aerospace composite parts
Prepare tools and models for lay-up
Cut lay-up kits as needed
Perform prepreg or wet lay-ups as needed
Laminate materials for tooling or parts as directed in planning
Complete all planning paperwork throughout the production process
Daily housekeeping of work area
In depth understanding of Composite Part; lay up mold preparation, lay up of prepreg materials, vacuum bag application and test, autoclave cure cycle runs.
Experience with new product introduction (1st part process development), production part process development, etc
Experience working with high temperature materials a plus but not required, e.g. BMI, PMR, Polyimides
Experience working with composite materials such as fiberglass and graphite fibers, and various resin systems; and tape and fabric material forms.
Experience working with various adhesive types and forms such as epoxy paste and film.
Posses basic math and geometry/trigonometry skill including angle measurement and calculation, conversion of fractions to decimal equivalents, etc.
Mechanical aptitude in handling cutting equipment such as knives and shears.
Ability to use basic measuring tools including tape measure, calipers, and scales.
Ability to hand work composites through use of small hand tools including routers, die grinder, band saw, dremel tool, etc.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
Able to work alone to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be mechanically inclined, able to read and understand simple drawings and written instructions.
Understanding of composite materials and design for aerospace manufacturing preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Resident Alien).
Must be able to work overtime as needed, including weekends
