We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Composite Assembly Supervisor to join our Manufacturing Team R&D team in Spanish Fork, UT. This position develops, schedules and implements work activities for the manufacturing and assembly area. Coordinates day to day activities of the production process, including personnel supervision, work assignments, and coordination of the product flow through the production phase. Requires complete familiarity with and understanding of the general aspects and technical phases of the job. Interprets and executes policies and procedures and recommends modifications to operating policies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises assemblers and technicians in various locations through all phases of production in accordance with established schedules. Offers guidance and coaching to manufacturing personnel.

  • Oversees the design and building of tooling needed for the production process.

  • Examines defective equipment to determine cause of malfunction and reports need for repairs. Assists test department with expeditious turnaround of repairs as required. Assists engineering staff to resolve design and documentation issues. Interfaces with planning personnel in the generation of process flows, as well as with quality assurance personnel.

  • Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required. Monitors usage and supply of all production materials and tooling; reorders when necessary. Interfaces with production control to help prevent material and equipment shortages.

  • Formulates and recommends plans, policies, procedures and schedules for the section. Seeks methods to improve product quality, repeatability and efficiency.

  • Schedules and coordinates work assignments. Ensures accurate time charging. Inspects work in progress and finished products.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the departments.

  • Implements configuration changes in the product and supports field upgrades and operations.

  • May interface with outside vendors and sales representatives to stay current on new products and services.

  • May interface with customers to answer questions relating to the product.

  • Participates in hiring, promoting, and training subordinate employees.

  • Assigns, directs and reviews their work.

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

  • Expected to work and lead the workplace in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and nine or more years of progressive professional experience in a related technical field with at least three of those years in a supervisory capacity. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

  • Must demonstrate an extensive technical understanding of production and assembly concepts and practices, with the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established milestones.

  • Must be customer focused and possess:

  • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex matters of diverse scope and nature

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including management and outside representatives

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees and external representatives

  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information

  • The ability to represent the company on external projects

  • Strong computer skills.

  • The ability to work extended hours and travel is required.

Under general supervision, with some detailed instructions and intermittent review, and working in a loud manufacturing environment with a variety of epoxy agents, this position performs repetitive or standard procedures and assists in the fabrication, curing, build-up and assembly of various types of composite materials where required information is readily available, methods and sequences have been pre-determined and tooling is provided. Works to blueprints, templates, sample parts, process sheets and other authorized information. Duties and Responsibilities * Assist in the preparation of molds and forms. * Mark and cut tape, woven material, honeycomb, adhesive and similar materials following templates, guides or specific dimensions and sequences. * Route, drill, trim, and sand to blueprint dimensions and tolerances. Vacuum bag parts for room temperature cure. * Assist in the lay-up of composite materials to molds. * Fit and smooth successive layers of materials as necessary to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets and voids following directions and instructions. * Assemble Aircraft components using structural adhesives, rivets and threaded fasteners. * Prepare surface and paint composite and metal components including bodywork, contour shaping and sanding. Apply spray application of epoxy paints, urethane and water based epoxy coatings, using a high volume low-pressure spray gun * Assist in the development of shop aids to facilitate fabrication, trimming and assembly as required. * Check expiration dates of materials prior to use, prepare proper mixes of resins and catalysts. * May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. * Maintain records as required. Support quality process by maintaining work area in an orderly condition by returning tools, equipment and materials to storage area. * Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
