The anticipated salary range for this role is between $144,000.00 and $180,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Compliance Training Project Vice President reports to the Director/Head of Compliance Training Operations and Administration and will provide support in the design, development and delivery of eLearning and instructor-led training projects across the Americas Division. Duties will include, but not limited to gathering and sharing training requirements and deliverables between subject matter experts, training vendors, and others. Also, coordinating with learning management systems administrators to prepare courses for launch.

The scope of this role is anticipated to focus on training delivered and monitored by the Americas Division Compliance Training team, which may encompass training across SMBC Group's Americas Division, inclusive of SMBC Group's banking operations, U.S. and LATAM representative offices, Grand Cayman branch, Brazilian banking subsidiary, U.S. broker-dealer and registered swaps dealers, and certain non-banking leasing subsidiaries and affiliates.

Role Objectives

  • Using standard project management principles, manage course development and instructor-led training projects from project initiation through to launch and project close out. Some projects may be large-scale training projects, which may include serving as point of contact for gathering and consolidating course feedback between training vendors, Compliance Training and subject matter experts, among other project support tasks.

  • Coordinate deliverables and approvals required for course launch in learning management system including, but not limited to, testing course functionality, coordinating with pilot testers and learning management team, and ensuring all required approvals are received prior to launch.

  • Track course completions by generating custom reports and following up with incomplete employees.

  • Maintain training deliverables, assets, and content on team Compliance Training SharePoint site, as required.

  • Collaborate with learning management team to ensure all training records are properly recorded in the learning management system.

  • Monitor and recommend adjustments to annual training schedule to ensure on-time completion of the Compliance Training Annual Training Plan.

  • Any other responsibilities, as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2-5 years experience working in training operations or training administration in a regulated / financial services environment. Experience leading or assisting in eLearning development projects, either in-house or external (third-party vendor) development is preferred, but not required.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, familiar with using large datasets to generate metrics and create reports for senior leadership.

  • Experience with online training authoring tools desired.

  • Experience communicating with and presenting status updates to senior leadership, including C-suite.

  • Developing and maintaining internal team processes and procedures.

  • Knowledge of learning management system reporting and intermediate skill in Excel with experience analyzing large data files and providing high-level information.
