Job Description

Working within the company's Life Sciences Group the Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring full compliance with US and international regulations by supporting the Life Sciences Group (LSG) and Thermo Fisher trade compliance group in the daily management, execution and supervision of import and general-compliance related operations.

Essential Duties:.

  • Classification of Change order requests,

  • Maintenance of day to day MSC requests inbox

  • Being a general contact for classifcation requests sent to the GTC department,

  • Assist in the maintenance of US and worldwide classifications,

  • Support broker classification reviews and processes and free trade agreement qualifications.

  • Determining, maintaining and updating product import related classification information.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of trade compliance processes.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited four-year college/university, or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a customs or trade compliance role with emphasis on import related responsibilities

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the specialized disciplines noted throughout this job description is required

  • Strong hands-on operational compliance knowledge

  • Direct knowledge of biotechnology, chemical and/or pharmaceutical industry and compliance requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, General Rules of Interpretation, Explanatory Notes, CROSS, audit principles, ADD/CVD and all PGAs.

  • Experienced in free trade agreements NAFTA, SGFTA, KRFTA, ILFTA, AUFTA

  • Knowledge of Canada, Singapore and EU compliance requirements are preferred

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with company management of all organizational levels, functional counterparts, US Government officials, and service providers

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferences:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Power BI

  • Graduate degree a plus

  • Prior experience working with SAP-GTS and Agile/JD Edwards/TRAX strongly preferred

  • Customhouse broker license strongly preferred

  • Multinational industry experience highly desirable

Qualifications: Manufacturing Compliance Specialist II What You'll Do: * Perform Compliance activities in support of company operations. * Maintain records and control of assets and materials owned by the company, suppliers, contractors, and government agencies. * Responsible for record creation and asset identification. * Evaluate technical/contractual documents for Compliance associated requirements. * Communicate with company management of organizations and groups on matters relating to Compliance. * Maintain required logs, records, and files in accordance with BATC policies and government regulations. * Administer sub-systems (i.e., contract requirement data bank, LLM, Asset availability). * Perform and oversee physical inventories from planning through reporting (i.e., plan, schedule, perform, reconcile, justify, and report). * Resolve Compliance problems with department or program management. * May assist programs in shipping arrangements and approvals for specific shipments. * May review acquisition documentation; ensure that it is complete and accurate. * Maintain files, paperwork, document procedures, and monitor Compliance activities. * Review records for compliance. * Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. * Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. * Perform other duties as necessary. What You'll Need: * High school diploma or equivalent is required. * Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. * Experience with database inventory and MS Excel. * Strong customer service skills. Working Conditions: * Work is performed in an office or warehouse environment. * Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
