Location: Torrance, CA (Hybrid Remote, once a month on-site)

Work hour: 9:00am-5:30pm

Classification: Exempt, Full-Time, Direct-Hire

A global commercial insurance broker with a dynamic team comprising 50+ employees, is currently seeking an Employee Benefits Compliance Specialist to join their team at the Los Angeles office. Reporting to VP of employee benefits, the Compliance Specialist provides guidance and support to both clients and the internal team as it relates to compliance with employee benefits regulations and requirements. Qualified candidate has minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a human resource and/or benefits compliance, and willingness to obtain Life & Health Agent License.

Responsibilities:

Provide expert guidance on compliance with employee benefit regulations to internal employees and clients.

Stay updated with regulatory changes and communicate updates.

Analyze client needs and offer tailored advice.

Advise on HR practices related to benefits, including leave of absence, nondiscrimination, Section 125, ERISA, ACA, CAA, and HIPAA.

Ensure HR compliance with state regulations.

Develop and lead compliance service offerings and audits.

Draft and update compliance documents and agreements.

Oversee Form 5500 filing process and ensure accuracy.

Verify client compliance with 1095-C reporting annually.

Collaborate with external legal counsel for complex compliance issues.

Monitor and track clients' Form 5500 preparation timelines.

Assess and guide new clients on benefit regulation compliance.

Analyze and provide guidance on ACA affordability compliance.

Assist with Section 125 nondiscrimination testing.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

In-depth knowledge of employee benefit regulations, such as ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA

Minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a human resource and/or benefits compliance, or related position

Life & Health Agent License is preferred, but not required.

Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
