Summary Description

nbkc bank is currently looking for a Compliance Officer to join our Risk Management team.

As the Compliance Officer, you'll be in charge of building and running the Bank's Compliance Management Program for our Fintech Bank of Record partnerships and banking operations. The Compliance Officer will make sure we stay on top of relevant laws and regulations by leading compliance testing projects-this means planning and running testing scenarios based on risk assessments and regulatory requirements. You will spot areas for improvement, suggest practical solutions to strengthen controls, and collaborate with managers to make them happen. You will also work closely with our Fintech partners to ensure their programs align with laws, bank policies, and procedures while flagging any risks. On top of that, you'll be a go-to expert for Senior Management when it comes to compliance matters.

This position will work @ @Flex (a combination of both in the office and at home) based out of our Kansas City, MO office.

What you'll do

  • Stay up-to-date on state and federal laws, ensuring bank policies and procedures align with regulatory requirements and mitigate risks in Fintech-related activities.
  • Lead and oversee the Compliance Management System, including its development, maintenance, and execution.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory examiners regarding Fintech programs.
  • Conduct and oversee risk assessments for the bank's Fintech portfolio, covering compliance, operational, and reputational risks, and propose controls to address residual risks.
  • Manage a team of compliance experts to ensure effective oversight of the bank's Fintech programs and operations.
  • Provide guidance and training for new and existing Fintech programs, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and execute the compliance testing and monitoring program, including audits, quality assurance reviews, and reporting on risk areas to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage the due diligence process for onboarding new Fintech programs, identifying risks, and recommending controls.
  • Supervise the consumer complaint process, including trend analysis and escalation of issues to management.
  • Research and communicate changes in laws and regulations, recommending necessary updates to policies, procedures, and operational processes.
  • Draft compliance memorandums, coordinate corrective actions, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely resolution of testing, audit, and exam findings.
  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • 8+ years of experience related to risk, compliance with banking laws and regulations, audit, or related experience
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in the banking industry
  • Management experience
  • Knowledge of project management and change management processes
  • CAMS, CRCM certification preferred

Bonus Points

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience working with anti-money laundering systems and software for reviewing customer transaction activity
  • A clear and complete understanding of Organization Structure, Management Philosophy, Policies, Procedures and Controls
  • Project management skills adequate to administer and coordinate the varied responsibilities of the position
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities with strong detail orientation
  • Proficiency to analyze and extract information from regulations as it relates to existing and new products, services, and business issues
  • Presentation skills sufficient to convey compliance knowledge and including the ability to interact with Senior Management, Regulators and Board of Directors
