This position is responsible for overseeing compliance monitoring and testing activities of the Bank's Compliance Program. This role exercises judgment and influence, and may constructively challenge business units to support Compliance Program objectives, balancing business strategy with appropriate controls

  • Responsible for leading the development of a risk-based monitoring and testing program to assure compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the financial institution.

  • Prepare and/or review monitoring and testing reports and provide reports to various levels of leadership used for mitigating potential compliance risks.

  • Monitor and report on corrective action plans put into action by key stakeholder(s) to ensure remediation effectiveness, track key milestones and target end date for the completion.

  • Provides periodic reporting of aggregate compliance risk and performance to Business Units, Leadership and various governance committee.

  • Coordinate and complete risk assessment activities for assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Report audit findings and recommendations to appropriate management based on the results of regularly scheduled audits, non-scheduled audits, and at any time when issues need to be addressed by management.

  • Provide Compliance information to bank management and be a compliance resource for management throughout the bank.

  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.


  • Degree in Business, Finance, Law, or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in banking compliance, operational risk management or a combination of both.

  • Proven expertise with consumer protection laws and regulations. Deposit and lending regulations is preferred. This can include Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Flood Insurance, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices, Truth in Savings Act, Expedited Funds Availability Act, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Privacy regulations, and other consumer protection regulations and other federal and state regulations applicable to financial institutions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to summarize issues, create reports effectively, and interact with variety of individuals within all levels of the department and the financial institution.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Must possess initiative and be a self-starter.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels.

In addition, this role will assist with compliance testing and periodic reporting of results. Essential Functions of the Job * Assists in performance of ongoing risk assessments of OPS and CLS * Monitors personal securities transactions pursuant to federal regulations * Analyzes, reviews and approves marketing materials, requests for proposals and client presentations for compliance with applicable laws and regulations * Monitors social media * Assists in updating OPS and CLS compliance manual and individual department policies and procedures to ensure adherence with applicable regulatory requirements * Conducts daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance testing of OPS and CLS businesses to asses and monitor key business risks * Participates in the Issue Resolution process for errors * Assists in preparing and completing due diligence materials as requested Skills Needed to Perform the Job * Specific and working knowledge of Investment Advisers Act of 1940, mutual funds, and general securities * Prior experience with corporate retirement plan (401k, 403b, 457, etc.) regulations a plus * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization * Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective solutions * Proven ability to meet deadlines * Strong organizational and computer skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities Education and Experience needed * Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent work experience required * Current Series 65 or equivalent or ability to obtain within first 90 days; past securities licensing a plus * Orion Industry Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment if not otherwise licensed * Minimum of 3 years of experience, specifically at a registered investment advisor or broker dealer #LI-AH1 Northstar Financial Services Group LLC Omaha NE
