Compliance Lead

The Tokio Marine HCC - Cyber & Professional Lines Group is seeking a self-motivated, detail-orientated Compliance Lead to join our growing Compliance Department.

Work Status: Hybrid (three days in the office)

Position Summary

The Compliance Lead helps guide the team to peak performance in quality and production metrics. The Compliance Lead is an expert in primary functions and familiar with other aspects of the department, allowing for the ability to become an expert in any/all functions. The Compliance Lead will have responsibilities including training, mentoring, prioritization, continuous improvement, and meeting facilitation. They will be a participatory member of the department in completing production tasks and working on assigned projects. These tasks include policy filings, underwriting inquiries, tax and payment reconciliation, reviewing details for Corporate Compliance, preparing audits, and more.

Key Responsibilities

The Compliance Lead is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are focused on key responsibilities including varied processes, all with time sensitivity. Taskwork has regular peaks of high volume coupled with competing demands.

  • Leads daily scrum and planning/retrospective meetings.

  • Tracks team's performance against sprint goals.

  • Is an expert in the primary Compliance functions, but familiar with all functions/capable of becoming an expert in all of them; highly motivated to continue learning and growing.

  • Consistently completes tasks in a fast, high-quality, detail-oriented, and service-oriented manner.

  • Conducts training/mentoring with team members; identifies and schedules cross-training to promote flexibility and growth.

  • Recommends/participates in system enhancement/process improvement discussions.

  • Prioritize daily workflow and produce a finished product that includes extreme detail.

  • Achieve quality and production minimums.

  • Effectively and professionally communicate with internal and external clients in person, by mail, email, phone, and/or electronic systems.

  • Compose business correspondence on behalf of supervisors, managers, and other organizational professionals.

  • Effectively manage timelines, including meeting criteria for filing policies by state mandated due dates.

  • Finds value in working closely with Supervisor, able to identify when/what/how often to escalate updates and blockers that could derail timeline.

  • Finds value in working in a team environment, leading by example and serving as a peer mentor within the team.

  • Assist, as needed, with review of insurance statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine impact to business unit and ensure adherence to filing and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Remain current on changes and developments that impact insurance design, products, coverage, and development, in addition to filing requirements.

  • Serves as a professional compliance resource to the business unit. Provide informed and strategic, professional advice when appropriate and respond to inquiries with urgency.

  • Follow work routines, established timelines, and pre-defined goals for assigned work.

  • Meet time commitments/deadlines.

Communication

  • Possess strong internal/external customer focus and high service level relationship with internal/external clients.

Cost Management

  • Perform work thoroughly, in a cost-efficient manner and at a high productivity level, while producing a quality product.

  • Utilize company resources effectively.

Business Controls and Policies

  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.

  • Take all reasonable steps to safeguard company assets against waste, loss, unauthorized use, and misappropriation.

  • Report any breakdown in controls to manager.

People Management

  • No people management responsibility.

  • May assist with onboarding, training, and reviewing the work of less experienced employees.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements

Education

  • College Degree preferred.

Experience

  • 1-2 years' work experience; relevant and progressive office experience preferred.

Other

  • Excellent data entry skills.

  • Possess and have ability to apply basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

  • Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, simultaneously with excellent follow-through skills; all while not jeopardizing quality or production.

  • Believes in and finds value in a team-oriented approach.

  • Has great attention to detail with the ability to detect discrepancies and variances in wording, grammar, spelling, and numbers.

  • Flexible, handles competing demands, uses time efficiently and prioritizes appropriately.

  • Good judgment and problem-solving abilities.

  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office applications.

For candidates working in person or remotely in Encino, CA, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is $ 29.23 - $35.00 per hour. The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the Company.
