Job Description:

TCS Education System is currently seeking a Compliance Coordinator to join our Chicago Office.

The Compliance Coordinator will provide a high level of active and independent administrative and compliance support within a fast-paced environment to the General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer.

Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • With the direction of the General Counsel, partner with affiliate compliance committees to provide guidance, direction and assistance in connection with a wide variety of compliance guidelines, requirements and standards.

  • Compile and analyze both internal and external information to prepare compliance audit data.

  • Interpret and analyze the application of compliance laws and regulations as appropriate.

  • Collect and coordinate internal compliance data with other departments to support TCS and affiliate partners.

  • Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and systems to provide administrative support to departments and affiliate partners.

  • Assist Office of General Counsel team with preparation and filing of state regulatory materials.

  • Answer questions regarding federal, state, local, and higher education specific regulations.

  • Stay current on industry standards by continuing education, research, and liaising with external and professional groups.

  • Create and prepare high-level correspondence and communication pieces including staff communication, executive and board reports, and presentations.

  • Basic analytics, data tracking, maintenance, reporting, and upkeep.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, handle multiple priorities, and work within changing business conditions.

  • Complete and manage special projects and reports as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • High level of reliability, discernment, and commitment to maintain confidentiality.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, local, and higher education compliance laws, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Must possess high attention to detail.

  • Excellent written communication skills with consistent application of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar for preparing and proofreading various documents and reports, including drafting, editing, and appropriate processing.

  • Must have strong interpersonal and outstanding oral communication skills with the ability to multi-task and maintain a high level of productivity and efficiency.

  • Must be responsive, quick-thinking, collaborative, and possess an innate ability to anticipate and respond to issues.

  • Establish priorities, and work in an organized manner with emphasis on detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments and meet demanding deadlines.

  • Project management: Ability to work independently without close supervision and as a member of a team.

  • Must possess high level of critical thinking and problem solving to research and maintain compliance procedures.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze complex information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges.

  • Must possess advanced knowledge/skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Web applications. Preferred ability to utilize Microsoft Visio, Seamless, and ImageNow.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • Experience working with senior level executives is desired.

  • 3 years related experience in a compliance, legal or highly audited environment, preferably in higher education.

VIEW JOBS 9/26/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-25T00:00 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for policy interpretation and compliance with federal, state and program-specific regulatory requirements, including: LIHTC, Home, HUD, Fair Housing, HIPAA, and other financial programs. Will be working between three communities; Calumet City, Roseland and Park Forest. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Maintain the day to day processing of new applications to ensure compliance with LIHTC guidelines, and expedite the files within the 72 hours turn around goal. * Assist community personnel and residents with understanding Tax Credit compliance rules, regulations and procedures. * Assist in the development and implementation of updated compliance issues in manuals, as needed. * Assist in the preparation and submittal of annual compliance reports for investors, partners, and regulatory agencies. * Maintain occupancy records for all communities, including establishing appropriate file maintenance procedures and protocols; keeping track of unit set asides, unit vacancies and next available unit rules. * Maintain compliance files at each of the locations assigned to you, to ensure records are current, up-to-date and in full compliance with IRS guidelines for the Tax Credit program. * Assist the Lifestyle specialist during times of increased volume/personnel adjustments in tax credit application processing. * Maintain and keep a precise system for the processing of tenant recertification's. Following all rules and regulation's of the HUD handbook. * Maintain and update Yardi Tenant Profile database. * Processes Tax Credit Application for new applicants by verifying all income and assets, determining income eligibility, and then obtaining Tax Credit eligibility approval from the Director of Compliance. * Prepare all resident initial and recertification lease packages for signing, including addendums, HIPPA authorizations, Tenant Income Certification, and extraneous documents. * Copy and distribute signed lease documents to: residents, wellness, and maintain the tenant file. * Maintain and Update Application Log. Requirements SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES REQUIRED: * Must be able to work between these three locations; Calumet City, Roseland and Park Forest. * Knowledge and/or experience in processing application for income verification. * Knowledge of tax credit regulations required. * Ability to interpret regulations and laws and disseminate information. * Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines. * Strong verbal, written and public speaking skills and interpersonal skills. * Ability to multi-task, develop and execute solutions to day-to-day issues, and ability to effectively negotiate with external customers/vendors to obtain information. * Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written direction in the English language at a level adequate to perform the job duties. * Strong computer and writing skills are required. * Ability to read, interpret and understand different types of income source verifications and to interpret governing guidelines is required. * Must maintain and encourage a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation with co-workers, managers and others with whom contact is made. * Ability to handle several tasks and respond effectively to unexpected changes, requests and stressful situations. * Ability to multi-task job responsibilities. * Ability to effectively handle stressful situations and work well under pressure. * Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
