Here is how the Completions Engineer role will impact our business:
The Completions Engineer will plan, budget, and execute completion projects that implement hydraulic fracturing operations to stimulate shale reservoirs for optimal hydrocarbon extraction. This role involves collaborating with subsurface engineering and operations teams such as geoscientists, reservoir engineers, operations coordinators, drilling engineers, production and facilities engineering, and EHS teams to ensure efficient and safe fracturing programs.
The Completions Engineer I/II/III/IV/Sr responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop and implement hydraulic fracturing and drillout procedures tailored to specific sites and well types.
Lead internal completion design reviews, lookback reviews, and risk assessments for execution design changes.
Plan and manage budgets for completion projects.
Prepare cost estimates and conduct lookback analyses to compare actual costs with estimates.
Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining operational efficiency.
Oversee hydraulic fracturing and drillout project execution with onsite reps ensuring safety and compliance.
Coordinate with service companies for materials and equipment.
Analyze post-job performance data to assess completion effectiveness, timing, and cost accuracy.
Evaluate and refine procedure execution standards to maintain cost-effective designs while maximizing productivity.
Conduct peer benchmarking during lookback analyses to compare performance and cost metrics against industry standards and best practices.
Stay updated on new technologies in hydraulic fracturing and diagnostics.
Implement innovative completion technologies to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Utilize ETL pipelines, APIs, SQL, and modern scripting languages like Python for data management and analysis.
Required Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Most recent work experience is with a peer-leading operator
2+ years of experience at an operator executing hydraulic fracturing and well completions projects, focusing on unconventional shale reservoirs.
Proficiency in well stimulation and drillout design and analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Willingness to travel to field locations as required
Ability to effectively perform remote-work, office-based work or on-site project management work under various weather conditions during fieldwork
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Beginner or beyond knowledge of modern scripting languages and data engineering fundamentals, including ETL processes, APIs, data modeling, SQL, and Python, or other modern languages.
Remote work is approved for this role excluding the following states: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Louisiana, New Jersey, and New York unless willing to relocate.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
