SUMMARY:

Provides comprehensive management of Clear Brine Fluid systems in the well site environment in such a way as to protect the customer's fluid asset and provide a high level of professional service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety:

  • Demonstrate safe work practices through compliance with TETRA and customer safety policies and procedures

  • Participate in, and lead when needed, well site safety meetings

  • Take an active roll in the development of Job Safety & Environment analysis documents for all tasks related to fluid handling, filtration and any other task in which the Fluid Engineer will have an active part

  • Complete one Safety Observation Card daily

  • Make recommendations when necessary concerning safety

  • Exercise Stop Work Authority when appropriate to insure your personal safety or the safety of others

  • Report any fluid related environmental events to supervisor

  • Report all injuries and near misses to supervisor immediately

Environmental:

  • Conduct all fluid handling operations in such a way as to comply with all Corporate, Customer and Statutory environmental rules, regulations and policies

  • Complete and update the NPDES section of the Daily Fluid Management Report (FMR) every day

  • Conduct Static Sheen test and record results on FMR and NPDES, sheet if requested, prior to all intentional discharges fluid

  • Collect for the customer all environmental compliance samples, Oil & Grease, LC 50, etc. when requested

Personnel:

  • The Completion Fluids Specialist is to assume the leadership role for all TETRA personnel at the well site. All personnel or job performance issues or concerns are to be reported to the Engineering Supervisor immediately

Customers:

  • Clearly communicate all material, equipment and personnel needs to the customer representative on location and with the Engineering Supervisor

  • Provide a complete and accurate FMR daily to the customer

Equipment:

  • Observe and communicate the condition of TETRA equipment to the Engineering Supervisor. Follow TETRA's policy G-01 "Assignment and use of Company Vehicles" and TETRA Policy G-5 "Use of Company Provided Computers and Related Facilities"

Job Reports and Paperwork:

  • The Completion Fluids Specialist is responsible for reporting accurate and timely reports that are required by his supervisors and the customer and sending copies to the appropriate people daily

  • Documents used to return, credit or transfer materials are to be sent to the appropriate facilities and your supervisors

  • Other paperwork such as vacation requests, mileage reports and any other documents deemed necessary shall be turned in at the time required

  • All required job paperwork shall be turned into the Operations office at the end of the job in a timely manner

Cost Control:

  • Take necessary steps in preserving the value of TETRA equipment, fluids and other material being returned of buyback or credit

  • Each employee shall adhere to TETRA's "P-Card Policy and Procedures Manual" and the "P-Card Cardholder Agreement Form"

  • All purchases must be in accordance with company purchasing policy for the purpose of TETRA approved expenses

  • When making financial commitments on behalf of TETRA you will strive to obtain the best value

Job Specific Tasks:

  • Review and understand all TETRA and customer procedures and completion plans

  • Make recommendations on:

  • Product application

  • Proper fluid handling procedures

  • Displacement techniques

  • Lost circulation control

  • And other procedures as needed

  • Monitor progress through displacement and other completion procedures recording:

  • Times of start and stop of procedure and various phases of procedures

  • Volumes pumped

  • Fluid loss volumes and causes

  • Circulation Rates and other information pertinent to the procedure in progress

  • Prepare a complete and accurate FMR each day

  • Monitor fluid properties and make recommendations for restoring and preserving of customer specified fluid properties

  • Manage filtration operation to insure that TETRA and Customer filtration QA/QC standards are met

  • Plan activities and material re-order to prevent any non-productive rig time

  • Communicate to the customer representative all items or services needed to insure that the highest level of service is provided to the customer

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all materials on location

  • Manage the installation and treatment of packer fluids as per TETRA and Customer specifications

  • Prepare "Material Return Receipts" (MRR) for all fluids and other materials to be returned from a job

  • Send MRR to Engineering Supervisor and to the plant that is to receive the material

  • Prepare "Well to Well Transfers" (WTWT) for all material that is to be transferred to another job

  • Send WTWT to Engineering Supervisor and to the plant from which material is being supplied

  • Secure signed and properly completed Delivery Ticket for Engineering services and related costs

  • Turn in to the Houma office copies of all documents, Delivery Tickets and reports at the end of the job or when being relieved from a job

  • All other tasks that may be specified from time to time by your supervisor or TETRA Technologies management.

Additional Analytical Training for This Position Will Be Required. This Training will be conducted at TETRA Tech Center in Conroe, TX:

  • Percent Proteus in CaBr2 by TOC

  • Percent Water in Neptune CaBr2 Brine by KF

  • Percent CaBr2 in Neptune fluid by Titration

  • Density by Handheld Density Meter

  • TCT of TETRA Neptune by Hand Method

REQUISITES:

  • Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent in Petroleum Technology from two-year College or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Language Skills:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret completion prognosis technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and customers

  • Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations

  • Reasoning Skills:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited equipment capabilities exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Pass the required physical examination and drug test
