Job Description

Overview:

The Pricing & Competitive Intelligence Sr Analyst is a key analytical expert of the residential pricing strategy team, responsible for the pricing decision making process and competitive pricing intelligence, analysis & reporting. The Residential Pricing team is responsible for setting prices and managing profitability of Vistra Energy's residential customer segment. As a member of that team, the Analyst will be responsible for defining, gathering, analyzing, and distributing intelligence about products, customers, competitors, and any aspect of the retail environment. He or she will also create financial models and analysis to support pricing strategic business decisions and provide insight into marketplace dynamics and challenges in a structured, disciplined, and ethical manner using published and non-published sources.

Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain quantitative models necessary for evaluation and implementation of new pricing strategies

  • Support the preparation of business case evaluations, including NPV and ROI calculations for major projects and initiatives

  • Gather competitor pricing and product data throughout customers' life cycles to maintain the overall relevance of residential prices in the market

  • Constantly evaluate the competitive market and provide recommendations to relevant business partners that enable rapid adaptation to changing market conditions to maintain superior price and product positioning

  • Observe and engage new market participants and disruptors, assess the level of potential strategic opportunity and/or threat, and provide recommendations to business stakeholders and management

  • Support the launch of price tests across channels and partner with stakeholders to produce tracking reports; develop strategic recommendations for go-forward pricing policies based on test outcomes

  • Manage intelligence gathering programs to test and analyze competitors' pricing and product strategies, customer experience outcomes, back office procedures, and overall communication strategy

  • Work with vendors to ensure SLAs are being met, information is being communicated to Vistra on a timely basis, and the overall level of service is sufficient

  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders throughout the organization to understand intelligence gaps and then disseminate competitor information to all appropriate stakeholders

  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams, provide analysis expertise, offer original perspectives, and challenge the conventional view to align decision-making and adapt to changing market conditions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Economics/Business or related field

  • Advanced degree (MBA) preferred

  • 3+ years significant professional experience; 5+ years preferred

  • Demonstrated track record of increased work responsibility

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Skills; SAS, SQL & Tableau experience preferred

  • Experience working in the electricity industry and/or competitive retail markets preferred

  • Excellent knowledge of Electric Industry and Competitive Retail Markets

  • Excellent oral and written communication & presentation skills

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent negotiating, consensus building and conflict resolution skills

  • Experience with data mining and visualization software such as SAS and Tableau

  • Ability to develop and prepare analysis & recommendations, especially when hard data is incomplete or unavailable

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work comfortably with all levels of employees, management and leadership

  • Ability to build a high level of credibility with internal business partners and customers

The P&G Regulatory, Audit and Control Team is responsible for all GIS control related matters (i.e. Regulatory Exams, Internal Audits, KPMG SOC1, MCA, Client requests, Issue Management, Capability Assessment, etc.) * Identify, escalate, and help develop solutions for compliance and control issues through direct interaction and coordination with control owners. Help address info security control gaps through in-depth root cause analyses. Work with issue owners and control officers to monitor the progress of corrective action plans and risk exceptions. Provide management visibility of corrective actions that are at risk of missing plan. Drive the periodic discussion with auditors to make sure there is clear understanding of corrective action scope by all stakeholders. * Improve transparencies of issues that have no consensus CAPs or committed resources, and those not yet fully understood to be Risk Exceptions. Identify and Inventory all IS issues across the firm, for categorization, trending and root cause analysis. * Facilitate audits, business monitoring, certification and other Regulatory, Internal Audit, and External Auditor activities. Keep all stakeholders abreast of audit status by being the primary contact for CISO audits. Ensure predefined audit methodologies are followed. Facilitate factual accuracy discussions. Coordinate audit finding responses. Ensure there is no surprise in the audit report for all stakeholders. * Contribute to Managers' Control Assessment (MCA) by coordinating the analysis of key processes, risks, controls and monitoring methodologies; define MCA process details such as testing scope, sampling methods and admissible evidences; ensure the quarterly assessment cycles are completed on schedule; report results to management, and address control weaknesses by assisting process owners in the development of corrective actions. * Obtain from control owners and provide through business liaisons the pre-approved descriptions of IS capabilities to Citi clients.
